Do headers and race cats affect emissions...
well certainly this was a worry of mine.
As you may be aware I had to replace my shortie headers with mid-tubes which then necessitated losing the primary cats. Add into the mix an x-pipe and only the standard rear silencers as well as the fact I I had already lost the secondaries you can imagine that it was with not small trepidation that I approached the MoT (annual road worthyness test for us in the UK) since all I had to replace the2 large and 2 smaller cats that Mercedes kindly give us with two 200 cell 'race/performance cats'.
The end result? I passed!!
To make a long story short - there is a lot of piping that can come off the 55, if you are so minded, with no detrimental affects to your legality
Hope this is useful for someone
