SLK55 Eurocharged tune

So I talked to Eurocharged during their black friday sale and got a tune for $229 and I had it put on Friday. Holy cow, what a difference! I wasn't expecting a ton since the car is NA, but the difference is dramatic. MB must have a ton of throttle lag built in as the throttle response now is WAY better. If you step on the throttle the car now just jumps! It will also light the tires up through all of 1st gear. I was pretty set on getting a supercharger, but now I might be ok once I put headers on it. Very stoked! Now if there was just a tune for the 7 speed trans so manual shifts didn't take like a second to actually do.

Yeah, that removal of lag was a definite plus in the aftermarket tunes. I got my first tune from Kleemann and it fixed the major issue I had with the car.

That is fantastic!

Headers are a nice addition to the tune! I have read about an upgrade to the tranny, but I don't think it was a "tune" more of a hardware and software change.

I have both the ECU and TCU mod from Eurocharged.

Did them separately. I was pretty much obligated to do the ECU mod when I installed a set of headers and a better air filter a while back. So I cant honestly say how much of a difference the ECU mod made on its own.

The TCU mod is another story. I just had it installed when I was upgrading my brakes. It involves dropping the pan and pulling the valve body out of the tranny. So if you are doing a trans fluid change, that's a good excuse to get it done.

EC also wanted the ECU back for further mods so I sent them both. Shifting is somewhat harder, but if you've ever experienced putting a B&M shift kit into an early GM, Ford, or Chrysler tranny, the 722.9 still doesn't shift as hard as that, nor does it chirp the tires when shifting between 1st and 2nd...

Seems like the problem is that most performance shops are only working to develop the 5 speed 722.6. Only Weistech out on the left coast really does much with the 7 speed 722.9 and I dont know anyone who's actually had experience with them.

They said they don't have a tune for the 7 speed, only the 5 speed. Sounds like you got a shift kit, not an ECU remap. I'll have to look in to it.

Nope, They called it a Transmission Control Unit remap and I had to pull the conductor plate (TCU). As mentioned, EC also had me send them the Engine Control Unit for a second mod at the same time.

Sorry, was a typo. They told me there is no TCU tune for the 7 speed... I am local so they flashed mine when I went there, just had to hook up through the OBD2. He reset my trans adaptions too. I will have to call them up again.

I'm thinking of having a Kleemann ECU tune or upgrade what ever you like to call it. I would like to hear more comments of Kleemann tune. Thanks.

Oh btw... One question. Does anyone know do they over write the whole software or do they just modify the existing one? The reason why I'm asking is do I loose all my allready done mods like -10*C fan mod and SAI turn off mod.

No thanks I'm fine. I actually got Klee ecu upgrade year ago and I can verify that none of those mods listed above dissapered. Like Claus told me they modify only part of that existing file in ECU so it doesn't affect mods done prior elsewhere. No re-writing hole thing. So all good and I'm happy with my Kleemann ecu upgrade.

SAI pumps air into headers to heat up catalytic converters faster during cold start ups. The pumps are notorius to go bad in a quite short time / mileage. Many are just turned off when error code pops up. Does not affect performance or metered emissions. And whole thing is useless if you go full catalysator delete.

Tampering the correction values of electric radiator fan to gain 10*C cooler starting point. Quite useless mod but I like it.

Did you end up getting any more performance mods?

I ended up having a Kleemann S8 car fall in my lap with 13k miles on it. I snatched it up. Supercharger, headers, full exhaust, cams, tune, carbon fiber hood and quasi LSD. I couldn't say no. Very fun car now, but needs a bit more top end. Unfortunately that doesn't seem very possible with these cars for some reason. Several have tried and failed to get the whp up to 500. Looks like I will be trying again too. No big hurry though as it is plenty fun the way it is. I want to try and get to the strip again in the next few weeks.

Yes, it sounds glorious! Kleemann says it is 596hp, but that seems highly overrated. I would guess more around 520hp if using the 20% drivetrain loss that seems to be commonly used. I think it is around 420whp. I plan to try and bump that up this fall/winter.
