New Exhaust, New Issue FIXED!!

Was finally able to install my ChromeTec (Piecha) exhaust Wednesday. Fit and finish is excellent. Sound is outstanding.
But, you know there always seems to be a but, at about 1500 RPM there is a pronounced low frequency mind-altering sound (not really a drone). The only thing I can figure is it must be the resonance frequency of the car.
It doesn't last long, clearing at about 1800 RPM, but is annoying in traffic.
Can't sneak up the driveway any longer.

Soccer, which side of the car does it appear to be coming from? the driver's side? By driver's door area? and you can rev it but when you get to 1200 to 1500 you hear it and then by the time you get to 1800-2000 it is normal again?

Sorry, went out to eat and have a couple of drinks.
It's not a buzz. I guess the best way to describe it is like the exhaust note gets very loud and deep. Crawled under her and found one of the center to aft pipe clamps was nearly touching the rear cross member. Moved it but haven't tested since. Will check it in the morning with the top up.
I'll check the mystery boxes also.
It isn't the motor mounts. They look and feel good.
Thanks

No Change

Wifey and I went out last night. No change. So sad.
Either I learn to live with it, put the OEM exhaust back on or seek the assistance of an expert.
Will try and stop by a good exhaust shop this week and convince a mechanic to take a ride around the block.

Response From Chrometech on Drone

Hello Terry,
thanks for your mail.
Terry it’s a sport exhaust system it’s normal that the you have some drone.
But you can solve this problem following:
Get a stainless steel metal shaft with a diameter of 12 mm.
Cut 4 pieces so that they match vertical inside each end tip.
Weld each piece in each end tip as deep you can, directly in front of the hole
that comes out of the exhaust box.
Then the exhaust system will be calmer and the drone should be gone.
Try it first with welding in only 2 of these shafts, 1 driver and 1 passenger side.
If it is o.k. for you, leave the 2 shafts inside.
If it’s not o.k. weld in the both others, too.
With best regards
Patrick

I will try this first, without welding. If no worky or if I lose the good sound, I plan to install two J-Tubes, once I compute the required length.

Had a similar problem with the NAP one, drone...... had to get rid in the end (Wifey hated it).

Now have a Remus, not much louder than standard no drone whatsoever.....

Resonance Gone?

I went to my local Home Depot and bought a section of 1/2" steel pipe. It approximates 13mm. After many tries I finally got the correct length cut (approximately 1-5/16").
These were wedged tightly into the inboard outlet pipe from both cans.
Went for a test drive this morning to test them out.
Wow! The drone between 15K and 20K is essentially gone. There is a slight drone but I can live with this as it is minor.

This was much easier and less expensive than having a J-tube made and installed.
Wifey will be happy.
