Power Pedal Mod Review – SLK 350 R171 MT

Hey folks. I hope you’ve had a good week so far. I recently added a VR Tune Stage III Power Pedal and I thought I would talk about my experience. I know there have been doubts if a MT would benefit from this device at least that was why it took me a while to make a decision. Anywho, the installation was easy. The change in the pedal map was immediately noticed. In SPORT mode there is a punch throughout the RPM range. I keep the setting in SPORT for Driving in traffic, in the canyons or the open road. Actually, by default it will automatically start in SPORT. Click the button once and it enters RACE mode. It took me a while to understand what that even meant but when I did Off the line, on a launch, there is no need to feather the clutch at all. Release the clutch than WOT. What I used to do was rev to 1,500 - 2,000K to avoid bogging from a dead stop and let out most of the clutch then smoothly release the clutch and continue to accelerate. Also, gone is the lag when the pedal is to the floor. Previously there was a flat spot so I never bothered to floor it after a few times at doing it. The device gives no HP gains but I think it moved the torque curve so the car is more responsive making it good for exiting turns etc. Personally, I like the mod and has been worth the $.

I was sceptical at first because the slk has decent pick up to begin with.

Was this already an option, or is this an added feature of the Power Pedal? If so, how is it indicated that you're in "race" mode?

I'm digging the big wing as well! We should do an SLK group meet in Woodland Hills so we can check out your ride.

I was thinking Bob's big boy on a Saturday or Sunday. Maybe the Rockstore?

Remove the panel underneath the steering column (three screws I think). Access the gas pedal wiring from the right side of the pedal and disconnect (simple serial plug). Then plug the vehicles wire to the device. The device has its own male connector to go into the vehicles female serial plug. Connect them together, hide the extra length of cord behind the cover before screwing the panel back together and that's it. THere are no wires to splice so u can remove it when you want to.....the button turns to red from green when you are in RACE mode.
