350 Brake trackday pads / rotors. UK stockists?

Hi everyone,

I have a '55 plate 350 with the sport package (amg badges and the steering wheel buttons is all it gives I think?)

I've done two trackdays since I bought the car in Feb, Rockingham and Donington. Lots of fun, it's a much better car than I expected on the track, but I've had to replace all 4 sets of pads after both days (and Donington was only an evening session), so I'm on my 4th full set in 4500 miles...

For road use, I'm more than happy with genuine MB pads as I drive like a grown up on the road, but are there alternatives for the track? I'm happy to fit them on the day, so they don't need to be road legal, but I'm having real problems finding Pagid S, Ferodo DS2500 or Performance Friction parts anywhere. Google steers me to 6 year old threads and I'm going round in circles here.

Does anyone have a recent link that works to a UK stockist of front and rear upgraded pads that are worth it? Failing that, what are the options to upgrade the whole setup, I have about Ł2k before my wife would be properly grumpy with me.

TIA,

Joe

I was hoping to avoid EBC, I was never that impressed with them in the past - mind you it has been about 18 years, probably long enough to make it worth trying them again...

Hi Joe, did you try the EBCs? I've used Yellowstuff on a lighter car and they were a great compromise, fade-free and long lasting on track yet responding well from cold on the road.

I used Porterfield R4S with good results on the track in my AMG. One set lasted me through 2 years of driving (not daily,) 2 seasons of autocross, and 10 hours on track (5 track days.) They still had some life in them but I replaced them early for the winter.

Hi Andy,

No I haven't tried Yellow's yet. As luck would have it I only managed two more trackdays since that post and both were at a drenched Donnintgon so the brakes had a slightly easier time of things, the current set of OEM's have lest well

I may do Silverstone on the 18th Dec and try EBC's then - though I'm waiting for a dry Donnington now I've found Dyno mode on the 'K and want to try a few laps without any electronic assistance - no TC / ESP is okay, but no ABS might be interesting.

Mark - Do you have a link for the Porterfields? I have struggled to find *anything* for the 350 calipers that are interesting cheap tat, OEM or EBC are all I've found, the V8 seems to get more interest.
