Ceika Big Brake Kit

So while I am waiting for my Kleeman headers to arrive I am about to tackle the last modification to my car that will complete my custom build.....the brakes!

Having trouble stomaching the price of Brembo's kits I have discovered a company called CEIKA who makes a very reasonably priced kit for the SLK. I know, it's not Brembo and I am playing with a "life saving" component of the car. But, reviews on the BMW M5 forum as well as the Lexus forum and a few others speak highly of the company.

Is anyone on this board familiar with CEIKA?

Below is an email that I received from the owner of CEIKA, Cedric Milharo as well as some images of his products that I took from the internet.

I'm looking forward to hearing your comments!

Best,
Steve

.....the Email.....

Hello Steven,

Thank you very much for your interest and kind comments.

We would love to build a kit for your SLK300. We have fully bolt-on front and rear kits.

For 18” wheels the Small 8 front 356x32mm and rear Small 6 pot 356x28mm rear combo will give you great braking power and endurance and it is designed to suit track use. It will also keep the bias correct and work well with OEM master cylinder. The 2 piece rotors and forged alloy calipers are light and help reducing the rotating mass and unsprung weight too and they will also dissipate heat a lot better. Our rotors rings have curved cooling vanes as well for optimal cooling.

The performance, endurance and weight of this brake kit compared to the Brembo on the SLK55 will give you a night and day difference in braking performance. Even with the bigger rotors i think you will still save weight compared to the 1-pcs rotors on the SLK55. Which will give you less unsprung weight and rotating mass.

Here are some combo prices with the basic features on the product page: (those prices are for front AND rear all included with shipping and everything you need for a direct bolt-on install. We even include Loctite and touch up paint bottle if you choose the gloss paint finish.

- Front Small 8 pot 356x32mm and Rear Small 6 pot 356x28mm combo
Total US$3166 (including shipping, rear drum-in parking brake system, and $83 discount)

- Front Large 6 pot 356x32mm and Rear Small 6 pot 356x28mm combo
Total US$3156 (including shipping, rear drum-in parking brake system, and $80 discount)

- Front Large 6 pot 356x32mm and Rear 4 pot 356x28mm combo
Total US$3036 (including shipping, rear drum-in parking brake system, and $80 discount)

- Front Large 6 pot 345x32mm and Rear 4 pot 330x28mm combo
Total US$2875 (including shipping, rear drum-in parking brake system, and $75 discount)

The 345/330mm setup will give you the exact same diameter as the SLK55 setup but with thicker rotors. Even this setup would give you much better performance than the AMG brakes.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Best Regards,

Cedric Milharo - Director
CEIKA Limited

Not heard of the name - look good though...

I have some info somewhere on another supplier that can provide the two piece AMG rotors - identical spec size wise to the OEM ones, but cheaper ...

Will dig it out

Cheers

Well, they are half the price of the all the Brembo BBK's I can find. Do you have access to the price on what you are talking about above?

$3956 vs. $2875 roughly, parts alone. The Brembo BBK kits costs roughly the same as OEM when I called for a quote a few years back, so I decided on OEM.

Personal opinion: I prefer the more "pronounced" look of the OEM where it shows the round outline of the brake "pot".

Thank you for all the information. I am back to the drawing board as I continue my research. I see what you are all saying......at a parts difference of only $1100.00 between these and OEM (mfg. by Brembo), although substantial it is certainly not a bank breaker. Perhaps I am confused but as I have gathered prices on Brembo branded product it seems that I am arriving at numbers in excess of $6k in parts alone which I am finding hard to deal with. Maybe I am getting confused, but for instance, from www.TireRack.com, I am coming up with numbers of $3400.00+ for the fronts and $3300.00+ for the rears......332/328mm respective......totaling over $6700.00 in parts!

Perhaps one instance where buying OEM is actually cheaper than buying the part it is based on directly? I'm not sure. Eddy has all the prices broken down to the last little nut that you need for the OEM parts though and those are of course actually just Brembo parts.

Yes, for a thousand dollars more I'd not mess with these Ceikas, but just go for OEM. If you want them to be a different color (they only come in silver I think if you buy OEM SLK parts), you can paint them later.

Nice thread. I am going to buy a big brake kit for my car also as my "final mod" this year before just enjoyng my car the entire summer until winter strikes.

I have gotten a deal from Ksport. 14" rotor in front and 12" rear.
Have you considered them?
Have alot of friends that talk kindly about Ksport.

They have great customer support as well.

I just bought coilovers from them and asked to double check that the OEM handbrake will still function after install of the rear big brake kit since Andy's Auto sport shop clearly stated that they didnt.

And the oem handbrake will function fine! :)
