SLK55- X Pipe install- any drone? Anyone in SoCal with one?

Hard to tell from the videos- they seem to sound great- very similar to the C63 stock exhaust- which is really what I'm looking for.

Anyone feel the mod is too loud for normal daily driving? Increased noise cruising on the freeway?

I want to avoid drone at all costs. Would love to hear one in person in SoCal.

Thanks in advance!

Does anyone favor the MagnaFlow over the SuperSprint X-pipe? or the other way around?

Hi all

All down to prices for me , They both do the same thing , I think one is bolt on (SS) the other is a cut & weld job (Magna) .I went for the Magnaflow ,
I have not heard a SuperSprint in the flesh ,
On the noise level you only get more noise ( a very nice noise) when standing on the go pedal ,Cruising there is alittle bit more noise . you get the low deep sounds coming in at around 1750 revs & you get a very nice bark on cold start up . This mod is not at all like putting a big bore muffer on the back , This mod give you the true V8 sounds that AMG now give to the like of the C63 & the SLK 55 ie active flaps .

Cheers

Andy

This is my thought. I like the idea of the Supersprint as it's bolt on, but not sure it's worth $700 when you can buy a Magnaflow for $90 and have it installed for ~$90. I'd still love to hear one in person.

I can't imagine the Supersprint and Magnaflow sound different at all- but I'd like to know if anyone has heard both.

Do you have the Magnaflow part number? Thanks.

Magnaflow 10791 is a perfect fit. Just requires some extra pipe as the resonator is a little longer than the x pipe.

Had it installed today. I was really concerned about it being too loud (it's my wife's car)- but it's really not loud at all. I would venture to say a C63 stock exhaust is significantly more loud. I haven't experienced a cold start yet, but to be honest I wish it made a tad more noise. Very satisfied, just a little surprised!

At just under $200- I highly recommend doing this.

Hi All

@paulunm Get the Wife to drive & stand behide the car & tell her to do a very fast standing start & report back about if its still not loud enough . The problem is that we are always in front of the tail pipes when driving so you do not get the full effect & the noise is always going away from you .

Cheers

Andy

X pipe - or not

Paulunm, I went to X pipe after comms here with Zero zero. Best mod I have done. Zz's description of how it sounds is spot on.
Go for it, you won't regret it. All 55amg's should sound this way; wonderful.
I rarely switch my radio on these days. I just prefer to listen to the orchestra playing from the exhaust.

Quick question if I want to delete the resonator and secondary cats, can I straight pipe it all or do I need to add an x-pipe along with straight pipe. Your help will be appreciated

You need an X-pipe:

No drone at all. I did took off the secondary cats and straight piped up to the magnaflow x-pipe. Keep in mind the x pipe was put in place of the resonator. Car sounds amazing
