Air Intake Question

Has anyone done any air intake mods on their R170? I've got a 2001 SLK 230 and was considering it. I found the following:

http://www.carid.com/2001-mercedes-s...ke-285617.html

This is a site linked to the forum. Mentions V6 SLK but not the 4 cyl. Would it work or are their other options out there?

Thanks!

I would save your money!! - I'd be worried about the 'snake oil' fouling my MAF sensor

Haha, I gotcha. I probably should use the $ for brakes and rotors first anyway!

There is an air intake mod for the R170 but it won't get you anything without the ASP pulley. My buddy Steve Johnson on B/W did this mod plus many others, i believe he also posted some dyno results.

Modifying stock air box

I was thinking about running another cold air feed, and plumbing it to the stock air box. I did not see a lot of improvement on the forums from using cone air filtters, so I thought running more cold into the stock.air box might work.

Ideas, comments, reccomendations appreciated.

Do it !! Add another plumbing to the airbox (so now you got 2 air inlet pipe), I gaurantee you will feel more torques. I did it on mine 10 years ago.

I have also thought about this, there is plenty of room and the one inlet pipe is so small....smaller than the intercooler piping im pretty sure and that makes no sense.

I'm not sure if you're clear. Just make sure you get 2 air inlet pipe into the airbox (kindna like the V6 & V8 air box with a dual air inlet, one on each side of the airbox). there's plenty of room for you to cut another hole in front of the airbox then find a flexiable hose attached it to.
