Don't pass on the right...

This dashcam video captured in Langley, BC shows why you should never pass on the right. The woman in the small sedan, which also had her two children in the back, swerved when she saw the truck start to switch lanes, and her car completely spiraled out of control. Luckily, no one was seriously hurt. The driver of the truck was issued a citation for unsafe lane change.

To be fair, the same scenerio would have probably played out if the truck was in the right lane and suddenly swerved to the left. Oddly enough, that is exactly what happened to me yesterday. The car, rather than brake & perhaps sound the horn, over reacted with the sudden swerve. I see this all the time. We have at least a death a week in this state with folks jerking on their steering wheel in response to sudden traffic changes, road conditions and weather. Sadly, most of the time it's a accident that could have be avoided with proper driving technique and paying attention. Discounting all the distractions drivers now have in their vehicles, the plain truth of the matter is, to acquire a drivers license one only has to have a rudimentary knowledge of driving skills. My old motorcycle riding credo continues to pay dividends every time I venture out. " There are two types of drivers, those that can't see you and those that are actively trying to kill you." Moral: Stay Alert!
