That's what I'm talking about. When I was 30, 50 seemed so far away. Now at 57, 70 seems like tomorrow, and I'm just hoping that I get there. And we all see it, those in our 50's, with friends that pass from one thing or another way to early. To find out that one of our friends has the big "C" hits a chord really close to home. Sure, there are some things that we can do to try and stay healthy, but at the end of the day when your time is up, it's just up.
Very sad indeed. Just realize that the chances of it happening to us in our 50's is much greater than it was in our 40's. My dad is now 86. At that age, he's obviously lost lots of family and friends. He's really at the point where he knows he can take ill and/or just croak at any time. At 86 he's prepared mentally. At 57, I am not.
