Chatting at work today, we got onto the subject of Forums, and how many we are members of. It was surprising the wide range of forums people used, so I'm curious as to what other types of Forums members here are on.

Apart from this one, I regularly use

http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=262335

which led to the formation of our own forum, on which I'm an Admin, and which takes a fair amount of my time.

I also regularly check out

http://forums.sv650.org/index.php

http://ducatiforum.co.uk/forum/

just to see how our old mates are getting on, although I post very rarely now.

So what other forums do you use for other interests?

SLKWorld is my first, only and last. If I was involved in any other forums as I am here, I fear I would never get anything else done!

Before SLKWorld I spent a lot of time on VolNation, a forum devoted to the athletic teams of the University of Tennessee Volunteers. I still check in every now and then during the Football and Basketball seasons or when something significant happens. That said, the flaming, abusive, and sophomoric "who's got the most internet cred" posters pain me more than UT's abysmal performance on the field/court lately.

If you're not driving your slk, you're thinking about your slk
if you're not thinking about your slk, you're modding your slk
if you're not modding your slk, you're driving your slk

How in gods name does anyone have the time to belong to multiple forums? . Find something that's worth reading, and stick to it. .

I'm a two-car kinda guy -- one practical, and the other, well, we'll just call it my toy. Two forums are on my daily check-in list. I admit that my activity level increases when I've got da bug for a new ride and several months after I take delivery, but I try to stay a regular reader and participate beyond that with:
Club Lexus is where I've hung out since 2001 -- having owned a Lexus of one type or another continuously since 1995. I considered the RX forum the most friendly folks on the Net until I found you-all. These days, I still check-in daily as BertL.

SLKWorld is a place I frequent at least a couple times each day since December 2012, and it is largely responsible for my placing an order for my 2014 SLK250 -- new build date as of today is June 27.
Most of my (one way) communication goes onto my personal website or Blog if you prefer -- that's updated quite frequently for friends and family, but gets a suprising number of hits from Google, especially my Zaino and some of the other automobile pages. I just finished a month-long project reorganizing and adding to my automobile and auto detailing posts, trying to prepare for what I'm going to try out once I take delivery on my SLK with some new wax trials I want to undertake.

There are a bunch of other "forums" I have registration with ranging from aquariums to other types of automobiles, but only a couple I check in with on a semi-regular basis (most others have too many posters that love to stir things up, post snarky remarks, or just flat out turn me off wanting to come back again):
Flickr – Photographs and inspiration. I'm WDW1Fanatic on Flickr and I check-in with what's new at least weekly.

Mercedes-Benz Club of America – Ended-up being a dud in terms of forum activity related to SLKs, but I try to remember to still check-in every few weeks as BertL just-in-case. Thank goodness for SLKWorld.

YouTube – I check in when I don't have a lot else going on

I frequent A LOT of forums and have moderated several of them...this why I sometimes disappear from SLKworld for awhile, because I'm busy following threads on other sites. It helps to have a subscription to the forums, and then have keyword alerts on topics i'm interested in.

Listed in order of frequency:
slkworld.com
benzworld.org
forum.xda-developers.com
mbworld.org
w202club
club202
mymbonline
mbclub.co.uk
190revolution
forumosa.com
forum.notebookreview.com
500Ecstasy (before it crashed and was replaced by 500eboard)
rennlist
peachparts
caymanclub (now planet-9)
clublexus
dodgetalk
cartownforums

I'm on several mailing list as well, used to follow mbcoupes very closely, and I still follow a bunch of LEGO (lugola) lists.

Hmmm....

Time is something thats in pretty short supply ...

Apart from here, I stop by at PPRune (the Professional Pilots Rumour Network), a Cyrus Audio site (one of my other big interests), a site for the Alfa GTV (I still check in from time to time eventhough I don't own one any more) and a (now and ten) a Stormtrooper related costuming site

Cheers

It seems that most people who have responded are similar to me...a couple or so of other forums for very different interests.

cyberdrakon....wow! How do you find the time for all of those? Just Admin-ing on CRAP takes hours of my time every week, as well as the need to keep the CRAP thread on GTPlanet under surveillance and pm-ing anyone interested in the group.

One of the lads at work told me today he is on 6 fishing forums. I think I offended him a little when I asked what on earth was so interesting about dangling a maggot that it needed 6 forums to discuss it on?

I was sat watching Enemy At The Gates earlier, and suddenly a thought popped into my head 'Stormtrooper related costuming site! Did I really read that?'

We are talking Star Wars here, are we, and not some helicopter-pilot-secret-society-code?

Not a developer, but I'm an experimenter/tinker, Been through quite a few android phones, crack, root, and jailbreak all my friends and family phones too, since way back in the bad old days when you needed special cables to connect the phones to the computer. These days I mainly edit other people's ROMs to fit my usage, and test out new builds (beta testing).

techpowerup looks good...great, there goes another 5% of my time!

I was on the Fiat/Abarth Forum for a while. Turns out they have no sense of Humor complain a lot and have that competitive Weirdness that was Way beyond me. Maybe I was too old for there Forum anytime I posted something about Weber Carbs and my Passion for old classic Mercedes and Italian Cars I got weird Comments back.

As much as I miss my R170 with 2 Kids getting older and the 1st College Offers flying in and the increase in Dog Food Price I had to make a logical Choice and the Abarth was the best Bang for the Buck.

I am just very Thankful that you Guys and Girls still allow me to be a Part on this Forum even with the R170 gone that you all have a Sense of Humor can take a Joke
and accepting a German Orphan lost in Amerika.

IMHO that makes this Forum outstanding.

No SLK?

Get out!

Now!

I know what you mean about no sense of humour on some forums. We found that with an MR2-related forum we joined. Life is too short to be serious all the time.
