What else is in your garage?

I thought it would be interesting to see if what everyone else has on their driveway, if they do that is. Be it your wifes car or family's cars!

2003 Honda Odyssey Minivan. The Mrs. likes it and I'm fine with it.

None on the driveway.

My daily driver is the Nissan Murano, my wife drives an Acura MDX, I don't take pics of my Murano, my murano just happened to be in the way of my SLK when I first brought it home from the dealer. My other car before the SLK was a boston green e36 M3, if you look carefully, it was still in the garage on the left. I had to make space for the SLK and did not want to sell it so, I gave it to my brother.

In Bangkok we have a 2005 SLK200k and a 2004 280S. Our 2006 SL55AMG is in Florida. Shown here are the SLK and the S.

In addition to the SLK55, I have a Honda CR-V that I'll use in the late fall/winter and my daughters use in the summer when they are home from college. My wife has a Chrysler Town and Country (a real POS). I traded my E55 for the SLK55 last April.

I just got rid of my E320 by trading it straight up for the Honda. I didn't think it right for the girls to be cruising around in an MB without having "earned" it -- after all, if I let them use it now, what would they aspire to later in life? They should have to "pay their dues" first and buy a luxury car with their own hard earned cash IMHO.

hmm... I never have ANY of my cars in the driveway. I suppose I can describe the next best thing, what I have in the garage ( where it belongs (pet peeve )

Currently, we have the SLK350 which we love and a Sienna Limited van which actually we really like too. Just different kinds of drives for different purposes.

Previously, we had a Ford Windstar (not nearly as good as the Toyota) and an SLK 320. Prior to that, the fun car was a Buick Reatta (if they were still making those, I might have gotten that rather than the SLK 320, but definitely would have gotten the SLK350).

Yup, I like you style in raising your kids. That what they call "tough love". I have ZERO experience in raising kids. I agree 100% with your philosophy of your children earning the better things in life.

Four total vehicle for two drivers. Obviously the SLK (I love that MB, most enjoyable car I ever owned). 2006 VW NewBeetle diesel (I love that bug, fun, great fuel mileage). 2004 Mazda6 (I love that Mazda6, my daily driver. Great looking, inexpensive, great road car). 1997 Toyota Tocoma 4X4. I don't love that Toyota. Nice vehicle, but I'm not a truck guy. Nice to have for bad weather, odd jobs. Two stay in the garage, two in the elements.

Lightbulb

My 2006 SLK350 (Bernard - "Bold as a Bear" as it means in German) shares the garage with a 2005 Lexus LS430 (Yakamoto-San) and a 2007 Subaru Generator (for Hurricane Season.) (Hey I wonder if I can get a WRX Turbo kit for it???)

The following cars left my collection on arrival of the final, 2006 SLK:

1972 Custlass Supreme Convertible (Red/Black/Black) 350, 4bbl, Auto, Factory Spokes, 33,000 miles - 'Das boat. (You should get that reference.)

1981 Fiat X1/9 (Fiat Red [Orange]/Creme) FI, Targa, 5-speed, 42,000 miles - Brademente (Check Age of Charlemagne for reference)

1988 Pontiac Fiero GT (Yellow/Grey) 1 of only 241 Yellow GT's, Sunroof, Auto, 131,000 miles - Bubbles. (A blonde from L.A.)

1988 Pontaic Fiero GT (Red/Grey) T-Tops, 5-Speed, 53,000 miles.* - Babs. (Mom's 50's nick name.)

*This one can be seen with it's new owner, and new Corvette V8 at http://www.xnet.com/~paulv

PS: My favorite car name was the 5,300 lbs. S500... "The Iron Maiden."

wow quite a spread of cars. I have my own slk280 and caterham roadsport 1.8k series.
also a delorean and RR corniche in the garage but they r my dads collectors items.
good to see other people collect cars...
also surprised at people who sue their SLK as a second car. suppose its not erally practical for certain jobs. I use mine everyday, but that is because i blew a fortune on ti and couldnt afford a second car haha.

The slk is the only car in the house. It doesn't even fit in my garage, have to park it on the driveway, as the garage was modified with an insulated room (meant to be used as a home office), and the slk stands out by about 6 inches and i can't close the garage door!

Dining room Table

Our dining room table now occupies the garage along with my SLK. I restore roll operated Steinway grand pianos for a living and we had to temporaily move the table out of the dining room to make room for another piano.

well its not anymore but this is what is was about 5 months ago. Sold most of the vehicles because we never use them, or got more then we paid.

99 sl500 sport
00 sl600 sport
93 Ferrari 308 GTS (the magnum p.i. car!) 24,000 miles all original
95 Ferrari 355 Spyder
97 Lincoln Limo (town car style).

its a 6 1/2 car garage.

Now its just my slk, our quads/ snowmobiles. Again sold all because we dont use them anymore, so why pay for them to sit. *tear i miss the 308*

Kids with cars...

I was unable to require the instruction I wanted, that they couldn't even drive a car before they demonstrated changing a spare tire, etc. However, I had to settle with making them work and pay for thier car.

Our oldest daughter I sold the wrecked (I bought it that way, $250) Plymouth TC3 I drove in college for $100.

Our son we sold our 1987 Fiero GT to. He has since regretted, terribly, trading it in on a VW Jetta that expierences electrical gremlins to shame an Englishman. I get a charge off a new car that stalls in the intersection like an old Ford Pinto. In his short time of owning it, it has been a plague of problems.

His dream was to own an E55. He saved up and was excited about going to get one, then he talked to some mechanics and people who owned them. As much as he loved them, and Mercedes, he has decided to go for a used BMW 5 series instead.

I agree, unfortunatly, he would be bankrupted with the repairs and problems a used E55 would present over a used 5. Besides, a Bimmer is perfect for a young man who self describes himself as someone with a "conscience that accepts Visa." (Damn Mormons, that's YOUR doing!)

We helped our youngest daughter get another old, used Grand Marquis. She loves them. I think she's a freak of nature! Did I not teach her anything? Smaller, good handling and able to steer around the accident?

I had a new Grand Marquis as a rental the other weekend, and man was that a scary-ass car to drive. Any bump makes you change lanes. Driving the freeways around DC at 75 MPH was like racing the Nurburgring at 150+ in the amount of concentration it takes to just keep it in the lane.

It made my '72 Cutlass seem it was up to European standards! No wonder the Cubans outrun the cops around here with Corollas.
