UK - Bristol banning all diesels

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-50292596

Bristol is set to become the UK's first city to ban diesel cars from entering parts of the city centre in a bid to cut air pollution.
Bristol City Council has agreed to ban privately owned diesel cars from a central zone in the daytime. Commercial vehicles will pay to enter the area.
The city has long suffered from poor air quality, particularly from high levels of nitrogen dioxide (NO2).
The scheme, which needs government approval, is due to start in 2021.

Bristol City Council are noted for their extreme green (and other) views.....
I usually take the Smart car (petrol) into Bristol, it’s perfect!

I have applied for a job with Environment Canterbury, they deal with water issues, public transport all the green the council tries to champion.
They state on their website they have enough cycle racks for all employees etc etc.

I want the job just to rock on up in the 55 every day

Pity such an intelligent journalist ends up working for a rag like The Sun.

I wonder if this will push business out of Bristol. We shall see.

Perhaps all the so called environmental benefits of city living are not all they are cracked up to be. Me I hate cities.

Sounds about right.

Many low income families bought these for economical reasons.
Same folk will not be finding the extra money for electric so easily.

These 'off the cuff' reactive policies irritate me.

Many diesels were recommended on the mobility program, i.e. The gov't body that recommends & subsidises vehicles for disabled users.
Many businesses went diesel.
It will leave many folks high and dry.

Maybe we should have an SLK drive thru Bristol.
Won't be long before they ban everything.

Like I always said Mercedes had it right in the past when they started playing around with Hydrogen. Making Batteries is dirty so is Diesel.
