Remember when Track Days have been affordable.....
Tack performance does not come cheap, and drivers taking part in competitions across the world know that. That’s why the $199,650 price tag slapped on the new 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT R PRO might not seem at all that expensive.
Powered by a 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo engine handcrafted by AMG, the car has a total of 577 hp at its disposal, which it sends to the rear wheels. There are also 700 Nm of torque to help push the car along. With this hardware, the GT R PRO can reach the 60 mph mark from a standstill in 3.5 seconds and top at 198 mph (318 kph).
The racing capability of the car was demonstrated a while back on the Nürburgring track, where the car driven by GT3 racer Maro Engel completed its run in 7.04.632 minutes, full six seconds faster than the previous time set by the AMG GT R.
The 2020 flagship of the AMG GT lineup is part of second mid-cycle facelift of the model, meaning there are several other improvements as well.
Aside from the tuned engine, the track-enhanced car features new adjustable coil-over suspension, carbon fiber components to reduce weight, race-inspired design and several functional aerodynamic changes to help it beat lap times. Stopping power is ensured by means of carbon ceramic brakes.
At the interior, the GT R Pro features a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and larger 10.25-inch multimedia display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as the touch display buttons used for the first time in the AMG GT 4- Door Coupe.
The car is to reach U.S. shores by late 2019. The $199,650 price tag does not include the $995 destination and delivery charge. Globally, only 750 units of this vehicle will be made, so don’t overthink buying one.
