Help/Personal Advice on Carpooling

Hey everyone I need to personal advice.

So I work about 30 miles (35 minutes) away from where I live. I have been doing this job for about a year now. Well during that year I was driving a 2000 Saturn SC2 with over 200k miles on it. It ran perfect and got great gas mileage. Anyways there’s this other guy who I work with who also lives in the same town as I do. We started carpooling which I didn’t think much of it when I was driving my old Saturn. Overall I liked the idea of carpooling as it saved me money in fuel. So we’ve been carpooling for several months now.

Here’s where the dilemma begins: New Years (2019) I bought a beautiful 2008 Mercedes-Benz SLK 280 Edition. So my old Saturn was a lot bigger car than this tiny R171. I actually kept my Saturn and was driving my Saturn back and forth from work/carpooling but then I was offered a very good price on my old Saturn and I sold it. So now I am daily driving my SLK/R171. First off the SLK/R171 gets terrible gas mileage compared to my Saturn that got 30+ mpg and only required 87 unleaded compared to 91 premium and 24mph...

So here’s the problem this guy I carpool with is overweight and the way he get into my new (new to me) car is very cringing! He has to rub his entire body against my flawless seats and then when he get in enough he plops/slams his fatass down in my seats. The way he gets out is also worriesome. I am worried he’s going to wear out my seat and potentially even rip my seat!!! Also I have to drive to his house to pick him up and when it’s his turn to drive I have to leave my car at his house which he lives by a baseball field which I feel very uncomfortable about leaving my car there as my old Saturn already got hit with a baseball. I also don’t really like the guy as we have very differing viewpoints on subjects.

Anyways I do not want to carpool with this guy anymore and I don’t know how to tell him I don’t want to carpool anymore! We work in the same office and live in the same town so I don’t want to make it awkward. Please help!

you could

come right out and say your car is not made for his bulk...show him the datacard that lists 'weight'....it really does

LMFAO! Every since I joined this forum you’ve been always helpful! It’s very funny you mentioned that because my back tire blew out when his fatass was riding with me and I had to replace both back tires and get an alignment (no joke I can post my invoice!). Anyways I feel like that’d be awkward to tell him he’s basically to fat for my car...

I’ll have to look at the weight placement card for sure! I’ll need to brainstorm ways to politely tell him I don’t want to carpool anymore. Like I said we do work together and we live in the same town. I also try to be nice even though it is very aggravating to have to worry and stress about my vehicle due to someone else’s unhealthy lifestyle.

Tell him you've joined a gym and will be working out each day afterwork and he's welcome to join you but will be getting home considerably later.

If you're single, tell him you have a new 'significant other' who you'll be spending time with after work and three's a crowd.

If you're married, as above but invent a mistress.

Get a fart spray and use it surreptitiously but frequently on the journey.

Actually I was truthfully thinking about joining a gym in the town I work in as the gyms in my hometown are small. I also thought about getting more involved in the community I work in as my hometown has a population of 5,000 and where I work the population is 40,000. Unfortunately I’m single and I don’t want my car smelling like ass so no go on the far spray. But very good advice!

The passenger seat is big enough - doesn't that solve the problem? You can take some other workers in the back of the cab too...

Just be honest with the guy. Say "I don't want to carpool anymore".
If he asks why, tell him "You're too big for my car." Don't smile or make light of it. If he's any kind of a guy, he'll respect your honesty.

Just tell him you can't car pool with him any more... If he asks why, just say you have other commitments... If he asks what they are, tell him it's personal.

What he said ^^^^^ you are not obliged to car pool with him. I would not say anything personal and you could say that you don't want to leave your car at his place.

I car pooled with a guy and it was terrible - he was never ready when I arrived and was always late collecting me. I'm a very punctual person. Always seemed to take his days off when it was his week to drive and was unreliable. I'm retired now bit that was teh one and only time.

A life long friend wanted to go for a drive in my SL - he is 6'4" weighs about 250lbs and just hovers his butt and then drops in. I had to explain to him the need not to drop into my car seats - (heating, massage & lumbar bags etc). He took it well.

One more idea.
Say that because you Saturn has been hit by a baseball, you are no longer prepared to park your car outside his place so heíll have to come over to pick you up. Afterall, thatís one of you issues.
I presume it is out of his way, so heíll probably want out of the car pooling.

If that doesnít work go to the gym for a week, at least you can check out the gym.
Good luck.

No need to get personal.
Take the opportunity to join gym.

If you're gonna spray, surely a brief splash of a ladies perfume.
He'll think you've got a date.
Never use fart spray on your own vehicle.

OR,
Drive like loon (within law)
Hard acceleration and braking.
Tell him your anger management meds have been changed.
You don't think they are working.

Adjust the passenger seat to the closest position to the dash with the backrest tilted forward. Tell him the mechanism is broke and MB wants 2000.00 to repair and you don't have the money to get it fixed. You could also add that MB told you that the mechanism most likely broke because the weight limited had been exceeded.
