Thinking about buying a Porsche Macan

I have the opportunity to pick up a 2017 Porsche Macan S CPO fairly loaded for $55,000 out the door. Original selling price was $68,000. The car was used as the dealer loaner, so it was never titled and I would be considered the original owner. That gives me six years factory warranty. It currently has under 10,000 miles.

Is this a good deal? Is this a good car? I need to decide by noon tomorrow.

I know there are some of you out there that actually know what a Porsche is and might have opinion on this.

Hope it is Air Cooled.....: 55K and full factory warranty does not sound too bad to me. Floor Mats are included?

Exclusive Floor Mat Set $175.00

I say buy it but see if they give it to you for $52,000 out the door. It's a beautiful SUV.

Are you trading in your 55, @Mensra?

No, I am keeping my 55. The number I have been quoted is it-out the door. Flossie, unfortunately not air cooled. But yes, I do get floor mats that say Porsche!

In other words it was a LOANER (driven hard!)

Are they selling it as "new" or as "used"?

I understand about the driven hard loaner part. That is my concern. I will have the Porsche complete wraparound warranty for six years unlimited miles. I don’t know how much damage could’ve been done in 9500 miles. I do know that the car is being inspected top to bottom. I also don’t know if this is a good vehicle, I’m looking for a small SUV with a little bit of sports car drivability. Unfortunately, much as I love my two seater black bomb – occasionally (rare as that may be) I do need to transport people and items that will not fit in it. Any thoughts on this particular vehicle?

Its a fair value for what will have a lengthy warranty. However, if the loaner aspect led to improper engine break-in, there *could* be problems with long-term enginr life if you plan on keeping it past the 6 year warranty period.

For the money you could get a brand new (if you strike a good deal) or CPO Mercedes GLC 43 and have a reasonably peppy smallerish SUV. The GLC 43 comes in a few different variants, depending on your taste. Of course you wont have a 6year warranty. Four, maybe more if CPO but less than 5 years max.

For Porsche, its going to have to include cost of service and maintenance. Not cheap, but then you are buying a $60K+ vehicle so you may not need to worry about such costs... I think it is a great deal, considering its a Porsche. Its a really beautiful car with very nice interior appointments. Out of curiosity, a nationwide search for a 2017 Macan S with <10K miles, shows prices between $53K-$63K + TTL. Hope that helps give you some perspective on the deal you are getting.

Good luck.

Omo

The designer of the Macan, is listed on Wikipedia as Michael Mauer,

Who should need no introduction here, but for those who might have forgotten, he was the lead designer on the R170 SLK
