Why you've probably bought your last car...

Why you have (probably) already bought your last car -

A growing number of tech analysts are predicting that in less than 20 years we'll all have stopped owning cars, and, what's more, the internal combustion engine will have been consigned to the dustbin of history.

Another good reason for early retirement.

Make the most of a V8 while there is still life support.
Even without advances it could be my last car.

Only found one model to replace it.
Even then, it is a worst case scenario.

If it got hit, I'd go 171 55 hunting again.

yeah but no but yeah but no

to quote little britain. The whole computer/tech/internet revolution was meant to get rid of paper, and then reduce or eliminate the need for people with jobs like mine to have to commute, opening up the whole work from home world.

so for the last 20 years or thereabouts in the information super-highway age, I have been driving thousands of miles a year, to do my job in different places, mainly carrying shed-loads of paper with me to be able do it....hmmmm.

what will we do with all the unexploited dinosaur juice?

I think I'll buy a few more 'last cars' just to be sure.

Ditto that Elmer. When I started auditing some 25 years ago, software was being designed to be uploaded for review with minimal paperwork.

About 5 yr after that, all the supervisors wanted printouts of the spreadsheets, working papers, etc that we did. Only thing that happened because of the computer revolution was more work in less time and more paperwork than ever before.

All lies

Got the car now? Enjoy it but know IMO it'll never die.

A guy I worked with claimed to have invented the combination printer/shredder. There was some mandate that everything be printed, even if never looked at. The shredder was attached to the back of the printer. Mandate fulfilled, nothing to file, everybody happy.
