Somebody Splain This To Me Please

So I fall for the click-bait again, 25 Ugly Cars That Should Have Never Left the Assembly Line25 Ugly Cars That Should Have Never Left the Assembly Line only to find the usual suspects, and there among them is #12 a Lexus SC (2001-2004) and I'm think'n that's kinda a squashed frog version of our SLK320 being panned as a bathtub ugly car. Over on ebay, looking to see if these things are going at give away prices . . . and yes they appear to have our roof, our steering wheel, and other SLK inspired items from headlamps to SL Grille to AMG wheels to CLK rear seats, etc. And so I ask you, why are these priced in the high teens, low twenties while most SLK's of 2001-2004 are under ten grand?

I had or liked some of those - a '92 TranSport with 3800 was my people hauler and tow car for decades. five of the seven seats were removable making a quick two seater with a lot of luggage space and full instrumentation, dual air, and load levelers (handy with an engine in the back).

Did like the early Seville better (later was called "Billy Mitchel's revenge" after GM forced his retirement). "First wide small car" had quite a following and to boost sales included free AC. With out the "egg car" Caprice what would Godzilla have chased ? I retrospect, the Edsel is not ugly, it just did not have a market. Did have a neat pushbutton trans in the steering wheel.

Ability to hold 4 people, no matter how uncomfortably, may have something to do with more people being willing to pay more for the Lexus.

Being a senior citizen may have something to do with it, but put me firmly in the group that likes the looks of the PT Cruiser.

As for the Yugo, not saying it was a looker. However, while it's build quality may be way lower, I find it no worse looking than the VW Rabbit or the Plymouth Horizon and it's Dodge counterpart whose name escapes me at the moment.

General fear of repairs on / keeping a nearly 20 year old Mercedes running, might be keeping the price down?

I know a couple people (might even call them friends unfortunately) that have owned multiple and will actively seek a PT Cruiser. If the roof line was lower and the interior wasn't like sitting in a carnival ride I might even think it was "OK".

I tend to look at the drivetrain first and never cared for the Chrysler Neon. Do have a friend with something even more absurd: a PT Cruiser Convertible.

Agree, fear of repairs keeps the price down on Mercs. I like that.

Evidently no one here knows what a Kess is.

Theres a fan base in Kent for them god help me .
But for some odd reason they put skulls and other demonic things on them why ?

They go to every car event but no one seems to look at them .
But they seem to have there fans .

Horrible to work on
Horrible to get parts for
Horrible to look at .

In my own opinion .

A car has to be able to get you to glance back at once it passes you by on the road that tells you something but pt cruiser well .

Who was the designer for these cars ?

Yes. Enough to have owned two of them.

This was my first one...

...which I traded in for this one.
