Unhappy Non existant customer service.

Yesterday, having had my front bumper off to get the lights sorted, the electrician found that two studs in a holding bracket were sheared and several of the liner clips were not attached properly and just spinning. So much for Mercedes having sorted them all as requested the last time they replaced the liners etc.. Andy managed to get the bumper reattached but advised me to take it back to Mercedes and to get them to refit the half dozen liner screws that weren't tightening up.

Leaving his place I headed over to the dealership to try and get the problem sorted. After explaining that I needed it done before going away this weekend coming, I was told by a "manager" that "You'll need to book it in as we don't have a walk in policy" "It'll probably be nearly three weeks though as we're very busy". We went out to Mabel and he had a wee tug at the bumper and said it didn't seem to bad. After I had uttered several words I won't repeat here, the "manager" told me I might be able to get it done at the Ayr dealer (a 70 mile round trip) but I would have to phone them to see. No offer to make the call, or to try and sort the problem, despite me pointing out they had done the job, just a comment that he liked my reg plate. So much for customer service.

Sod Mercedes, and the suggested trip to Ayr, I found a local garage this morning that is going to have a look at the problem for me tomorrow.

I know there are some good MB dealers, but only because other members say so.

I have not once been impressed in the few visits that I have made.

Actually, not quite true.
Whilst I waited for the bitter disappointment I did enjoy the coffee and biscuits.

It's why I don't join MBUK.
I'll be unlikely to use the MB dealer discount.

Thatís why I do not like being in the boondocks where we have exactly 1 (ONE) dealer who does not care. I have been told when Iíve gone there that ďif I want Mercedes I have to deal with themď. Unfortunately, my next one will not be a Mercedes if Iím still living here.

As long as have a service manual and a way to talk to my cars consider a dealer a source for parts I can't get elsewhere. Is really only one mechanic I trust and have more specialized tools here than many shops. OTOH am too slow to make it in business.

When I had my house built it was in the boondocks. Isn't any more.
