Finally replaced the Rikens on Kismet - went with Yoko Avids. Also had the brakes done this week. Originally, 2yrs ago, MB Oklahoma City said I might get 10k miles on them; the safety check here in Canada said maybe 10k kilometers - I have no problem with conservative estimates when it comes to such things. Well we have put 20k+ kms on the car and the sensor still hadn't tripped.
Bravo to Young Street Garage (Kurt), just off Preston in Little Italy here in Ottawa. They had the lowest estimate of three, talked intelligently about dustless pads and rotor quality. Took it in, 15mins later they called to say the rears are only at 70% (so I'll be cleaning the rear wheels for quite a while...). Then they gave me a heads up on a bad left front bearing; no need to replace both. Huge savings over some shops that would have done the rears and replaced both bearings (imho).
Tires via Active Green & Ross at Carling (Rob & Ken). Great service, quick and clean; matched the lowest price on the web, no argument.
