Nah. It was off topic to the extent it was a mech/elec issue with wife's Civic. There are so many genius' (well, smarter than me anyways ) on this forum that where better than to ask the question

I got the mech figured out (knew how to do the elec) and it's put back together and runs perfectly.

DRL's were buzzing (with one being non-functional) because of a crappy soldering job on the board by the Honda Motor Corp. and it was causing an intermittent contact issue.

Yes. Because I figured it out, I thought there was no need to leave it in place. I left enough info in the f/u post to briefly describe the issue so if someone else encounters the same problem, they can contact me. Didn't want someone wasting their time on an issue I had already solved.

Should I have left the original question?

well it couldn't have hurt
no charge for the words or the picture
plus it was in off topic

not a problem, other than my confusion looking for the 'other' off topic thread to move this thread to it

Don't put it back

The DRL module controls the daytime driving lights. When the board went on the fritz, one DRL (hi beam) went real real dim (although it works AS a hi beam) and a relay inside the cab makes an awful buzzing noise. Turning on the headlights turns off the DRL and eliminates the buzzing.

This was a problem on a LOT of early Honda's (2000-2005 I'd guess and civics, accords and acura were affected). It is caused by 6-8 very poor solder joints on a circuit board that is housed in a little grey box in a very difficult area under the dash to access.

I knew which solder joints needed re-soldering but it was very difficult bending your wrists to be able to unplug the connector which didn't want to let go.

Once I figured that connection out (which you can't really see and that makes it all the more difficult), I could get the circuit board out and re-solder the joins.

Put it all back together and everything is good as new.

That's what my first post was about. If you ever get annoying buzzing, it's the DRL's and the circuit board that's at fault.

It's about $500 for the dealer to replace the board so it's a worthwhile DIY project. Thanks to the internet!

I come for the Mercedes but I stay for the Honda (info).

That is interesting, thanks for posting

I hope I never actually need to do that, but I'm sure it will go something like this:

Mom: my Honda Civic is acting stupid.
Me: oh I can fix that mom I just need to tear your dash apart, pull out a circuit board, and re-solder some connections.
Mom: are you on drugs?
Me: no mom I swear.
