One of those days....

Don't you just hate those days when everything that can go wrong does?

Today, my husband left the house around 9.30 this morning to visit his business partner/best friend for the weekend. Half an hour after he left something blew in the kitchen and I lost the power to my kettle, toaster, washing machine and dishwasher. I had just put some washing on and was boiling the kettle for a much needed coffee at the time. This has happened before, but he is usually there to sort it. I hadn't got a clue, so had to just send him a message and hope he'd stop for a wee and notice it. Fortunately he did and he told me to change the fuse in a plug, and where the spare fuses were. This fixed the problem thankfully.

Then, I nipped to the shops, and when I came back I noticed my watch was showing completely the wrong time. Pulled the little knob thing to reset it, and the entire thing came out of my watch, put it back in, but it's not right and I can't reset the time. This is 500 worth of Seiko that I've had back from being repaired only 4 weeks ago. The repair alone cost me 140. I am absolutely livid.

This all comes at the end of a very long week when I've been battling with high blood sugar levels, in and out of the diabetic clinic, changing medication, and having to deal with the laziest teenager in the world who is determined to drop out of college with only six teaching weeks to go. Not to mention nearly losing my little finger when I took my parrot to get his nails clipped. He didn't like it, and my finger bore the brunt of it!

Anybody else having one of those days/weeks/months?

One slightly amusing moment was my daughter saying to me "How did you know how to change a fuse?"

I told her I can change fuses, plugs, lightbulbs and even a car wheel. I just choose not to if I can get somebody else to do it for me.

Tough week Sandra...hope you have a shift in the wind.

We had more snow...want to trade.

Teenager - sympathize. What's the issue, if other than sloth (not meant to be personal, but some of the new generation at work have no work ethic)

I wrestled with blood sugar control and finally benefited from seeing a proper Diabetologist. Highly recommend you seek one out. My General Physician although very skilled, just couldn't get the job done. Good luck.

Hi Sandra...I sympathize with you, and you MUST watch your blood sugar, I hear that's nothing to mess around with.

I didn't have mishaps like you, but I just finished a very busy 10 day stint at the Strawberry Festival here in Florida. Worked at least 14 hours a day selling and lifting flats of berries, trying to be patient with people that wanted waited on NOW, and tangled in the mess was the usual family issues of working together. My whole body hurts like hell.

Then I got home each night to find my home a complete disaster with dirty dishes, leftovers that needed refridgerated, laundry oozing out of the hamper, etc..I don't even know if the dog was fed at all!

Fortunately I get a whole year to rest up until the next festival!

I had a day like that last week.

I just keep telling myself "you need days like this so you know what a good day is"

:-)

I am seeing a specialist diabetic nurse, I have another appointment in the morning and my levels are now pretty much as they should be thanks to a change in my medication and my dietary overhaul.
