Ever felt the need for one?

It would have to be a small one.. certainly wouldn;t fit in my glove box.

I used to keep a knife when i lived & parked my car in Newark, NJ (for those over seas... this is not a good place to live & keep a Benz)

Now that you mention it, i just realized i have been riding around with a box cutter in the door pocket... been there since i worked on the LCD mod.

You terrorist.. Off to cuba with you!

I understand why people feel the need there are a lot of dodgy people around, especially in the downtown area's where I live. But to be honest if someone pulls a gun on me or a knife they can take it all.. I don't want to get in some gun fight with some fool. plus the car has lojack and the merc tracker so how far would they get?

I totally agree. I treasure life too much to lose it in an attempt to save my car. And I have the Boomerang system too.

What worries me though is the upsurge in road rage. I am always afraid to offend some maniac inadvertently and pay the price...

Yes, thanks to liberal Florida gun laws.

Yes I do. In Florida, your car is considered like your home, and in the event you feel "reasonably threatened" (mugged, carjacked, ect) you have no duty to retreat (even if you have an easy avenue for escape) and may defend yourself with deadly force. Say hello to my little friend!

Well all this talk about protection... i think i'll just keep a 25" Machete. Problem is it doesn't fit in the glovebox

So i may have to go with one of these, seeing as it would actually fit in the glovebox

Are you serious?!?!? I must be "armophobic". I wince at the mere thought of touching a gun or an arm of any kind. I admit it: I am a big sissy! Fortunately, I live in an area where owning a personal weapon is not necessary at this time.

Zut, i was the same way for a while. Then on a holiday went to a shooting range that offered many different types of ****.
Had a go at :

AK-47
M-16 (fully outfitted)
Police Glock
Rifle (can't remember which)
And one of my fav. the Desert Eagle .50 < now this baby had a nice kick to it

I also like how you left that back door in your statement "in my area YET" Lets hope the "yet" doesn't happen.

I understand your position perfectly and it is certainly not for me to pass judgement. I have visited many major US cities in the past 40 years and although I loved everything and everyone there (I am a big fan of the American culture), I felt unsafe in some areas. However, my fear of **** is stronger than my fear of people. I should be afraid to hurt myself accidentally if I had a gun in my home or in my car.

Zut, i couldn't agree more. Personally i do not keep one myself for the same reasons. And i wasn't passing judgement either.

I guess i felt a little more comfortable in a "controled" enviroment at a shooting range where there was an instructor with me to help.

Really? I had never seen this smilie until it was introduced in this forum. I just find it amusing. Unless I have a severe case of banana-envy... Anyway, I promise I shan't use it again.

Easty, I just found this Wikipedia entry for the dancing banana:

I am sure you will find it fascinating!
