Challenge at the Root Beer Stand

Mason's Root Beer stand is a local diner that has withstood the test of time. It is famous for home made root beer served up in frosted mugs....also loaded foot-long chillidogs. Still has cute car hops, 50s music and the whole bit. Mason's is the place to show off your hot rod, muscle car, or sports car on weekend nights. It is located in Washington Indiana.

Doesn't look like you had much competition.

I'd say you won the car show hands down !

Thanks for the compliment, but we went for lunch so it was not busy. One thing I've noticed is that young guys and girls are getting away from diesel trucks and tuner cars. They are going to serious looking off road jeeps and older restored low dollar classics......Studebakers, AMCs, and some big iron....Olds 98s and Pontiac Catalinas. Back seat Saturday nights are back! God Bless America!

Gregg,

Mason's has good food. My wife was born and raised in Washington and most of her famly still live there. You can buy the rootbeer by the gallon. To bad the black buggy closed down. They had good food.

Enjoy,
Dave

Yes....Mason's is a classic. What really interests me is the vehicle of choice evolution that takes place among youthful drivers. Glad the tuner car / diesel pickup trend is phasing out.....its time for a change. We see the same thing at local car gathering places on this side of the river.

Hey fly-boy, that would have added over 100 miles to your drive to Indy(can't you read a ROAD map ), and you told me your butts were a bit tired, if I remember correctly

Dave, my mother was from the area; born in Petersburg and a sister and brother-in-law in Washington(the Gines family; father had a meat market and the b-in-l was a great carpenter)... it IS a small world

"Think as I think," said a man,"Or you are abominably wicked; You are a toad."
And after I had thought about it, I said,
"I will, then, be a toad."(Thank you, Steven Crane)

Think outside the box!
