Back into lane after passing

When I've passed a car I pull back into the lane when I can see their headlights/front of the car in the rear view mirror.

Lately I'm beginning to think I am waiting too long.

How do you decide when to pull back into the lane?

I do the same - when I can see the car I passed in the rearview, I pop back into the lane I came from.

I do, however, set my mirrors up so I don't have overlap between the side mirrors and the rearview.

New Blind Spot Warning technology makes it easy -- return to lane as soon as the light in the rear view mirror goes out and/or the warning beep stops if you have your turn signal on.

I ditto that, but would that legal passing lane be on the left or right? The majority of drivers here in Florida think you are supposed to drive slow in the fast lane, the middle lane is for driving side by side with the slow vehicle in the fast lane, and the slow lane is a clear passing lane for miles!

Auto manufacturers should install an alarm that sounds like an air horn to wake up the driver when they are being passed on the right. This alarm should be equipped with a detection device that turns off the alarm only when the driver signals and moves into a slower lane, or better yet on the berm...

Ugh, this really pi$$es me off........I'm done now.

I always wait until I see the entire vehicle in my rear view mirror. This helps encourage safe spacing between vehicles. 4 or 5 vehicle lengths seems like a comfortable seperation distance to me.

Doesnt apply in the UK as most drivers never move into a lane they just hog the outer two of the three available and as undertaking is illegal in the UK, your stuck behind them as they tootle along at 55 to 60
