Mercedes-Benz unveils minivan concept for Millennials

I am kinda glad that I am a Boomer at least we had the real thing and we drove it ourself to the festivals.

Mercedes-Benz’s vision of the future is leisurely – and lazy.

The German auto maker has unwrapped a concept vehicle at the Tokyo Motor Show that is more of a lounge than a car. Called Vision Tokyo, Mercedes describes the futuristic minivan as “luxurious, young and progressive…versatile and intelligently connected.”

The auto maker sees the next generation of potential customers as being more interested in digitally interacting with the vehicle, rather than driving it. The car “embodies the concept of an automotive lounge for a future generation of megacities,” said Gorden Wagener, head of design for Daimler AG, in a statement. “The purity and sensuality of the Vision Tokyo’s styling defines a new interpretation of modern luxury for Mercedes-Benz.”

The company said this is how it is turning the car into a “hip living space – a chill-out zone in the midst of mega-city traffic mayhem.”

The 26-inch wheels and side skirt light up. It will feature an electric fuel cell hybrid powertrain and can seat five. Passengers enter through a massive gullwing door, sit on the wraparound couch and are entertained by a holographic system in the centre.

That's the van my dad bought so we could afford holidays when I was a kid. Same colour too!

Sadly both are long gone. But not the memories.
Obviously loved my dad, but the holiday memories with that van bring back the smiles.

Worth an absolute fortune now.

Sad to say the Merc...pale shadow of it's goal.

Not even aircooled!
