Amateur driver has terrifying crash on the Nürburgring Nordschleife

Explain that one to the insurance company.

The 13-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany is one of the most famous and challenging race circuits in the world, and is open to the public to drive on track days. There are countless accidents every year as amateurs try to push their cars to the limit along the narrow and windy track, and the sheer number of cars on the circuit create a series of moving roadblocks. One person going way too fast in a Renault Mégane tried to overtake a car in the high-speed Schwendenkreuz section, but lost control and violently flipped through the air after crashing into the barrier.

Fortunately, the driver of the car involved in the accident appears to walk away under his own power.

You can find the Video in You tube land too many German bad words. Jbanks would cancel my free Membership.

Maybe that's why my insurance specifically forbids me from the Nurburgring. Didn't mention any other road or track.

That's because the Nürburgring Nordschleife is technically just a public toll road nowadays, not a 'track'. Clearly, insurance companies (certainly here in the UK) are wise to that now though, as mine also excludes cover whilst driving on it too.

My insurer (Admiral) specifies the Nurburgring being an exclusion zone.
No other tracks or roads are specified.

Nordschleife is specifically not covered by my policy either. I guess this guy needed more practice on his XBox before trying the real thing... doh!

don't forget that if you do have a big off there you are responsible for all costs incurred, that is:

recovery
repair of track
repair of road-furniture
loss of earnings while track is being repaired.....

Yes, I'd heard that. Pretty expensive afternoon I guess. Not been round it myself other than on a PS3. Might have a trundle round one day. Though a good friend who drove the course regularly when he was a development engineer for Porsche, reckoned that the track gets way too busy these days. So I'm not that fussed whether I get round there one day or not.
