Friday burn out

Built by the Aston Martin factory specifically for the latest James Bond movie, the DB10 is the sportscar everyone wants to buy but can't. Today, we got our first taste of what it's capable of, thanks to an official video released by the automaker via its Youtube channel.

They're not showing us anything we haven't seen before, but the stunt driver puts on a show for the ages. This toy is built on the same short platform as the V12 Vantage, and it still handles like a bat out of hell.

Proving once again that Aston Martin only makes cars for skilled drivers, the DB10 uses its handbrake to do a perfect "007" drift. You just don't see that in today's world, where the handbrake has turned into a stupid little button.

While we're keeping our fingers crossed in the hope that Aston Martin's next sportscar will be exciting to drive, let's talk about the 24th James Bond movie. This is the second film directed by Sam Mendes and once again sees Daniel Craig behind the steering wheel.

Unlike before, we also have an antagonist car, delivered by the folks at Jaguar. We are talking about the C-X75 concept car that has been painted copper for its movie debut. With thrilling chases taking place in Italy and many other exotic locations, us car guys have something to look forward to.

Aston has never officially disclosed any performance numbers for the DB10 though they have admitted the chassis is taken from older Vantage models. However, the wheelbase is much longer, and the tracks are almost the width of those on the One-77. Power clearly comes from the tried and tested V12 monster, while the clip below also shows glimpses of the gearbox.

"It's 10 cars total run - let's hope James Bond doesn't wreck them all!" said Aston CEO Andy Palmer.

Well, Andy, you might as well make another couple of hundred just to make sure. It's been over 50 years since the first Aston appeared in 1964's Goldfinger and the brand wouldn't be the same without Bond.
