JeffreyJ Bear Takes Dip in Family's Pool

For Ipad users:

Who doesn't love a good dip in the dead of summer? Well, for one family, that love of poolside fun extends to ursine visitors as well. A bear arrived at a family's home in Sierra Madre, California, and proceeded to enjoy the cool relaxation of the outdoor pool for 15 minutes before wandering off.

One of the house's owners, Thomas See, caught the visit on tape. It's hard to blame the bear — weekend temperatures in the area were in the triple digits. See mentioned that bears had been seen in the area scrounging for trash but that one had not visited his pool before.

The video is already the stuff of viral gold, with a ton of fans. Viewers feel for the bear, citing the "unBEARable" (sorry) heat. The population of black bears in California is about 25,000 to 30,000, though most of them live north and east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Luckily, they rarely attack, with the last recorded interaction being with a hiker who was injured in 2003.

Of course, this isn't the only news we have of bears interacting with humans. Over in Jellystone Park, reports of an adult bear and its young companion stealing picnic baskets have picked up this summer.

I was not at the foothills of the Sierra Madre nor was I at the foothills of the Sierra Padre. I was busy at work in my office in San Juan and I have employees that will vouch for me. What you saw was an optical delusion.
