Downtown Apartment living has huge negatives

I'm used to living in my house in the country over in england with a huge garden plenty of parking and a garage to play with and keep my toys safe.

Since I've been living in texas i've been living in an apartment, I chose it because its a few blocks from down town. This means I can have a few shickers and stumble home. The worst possible thing is my toys. I used to have a sportbike, Which I struggled to work on and it ended up getting stolen. Now I have my SLK and I really hate the fact I'm not allowed to even wash the car in the place. I had the car jacked up once while I was checking the pads before a trackday and some moaning nieghbour came over to tell me im not allowed to work on my car as it lowers the posh level of the place?? as she clambers into her old rusty f150 truck. I hate it when everyone talks about polishing there cars for hours and the best I can do is give it a wash in the pucblic dirty water jet spray and dry it down with towels. ;( just having a sad waffle!

Perhaps some fellow SLK enthusiast in the Fort Worth area will offer you a place to wash and Zaino the R171. Who knows?

You may be able to find a do-it-yourself coin-operated car wash nearby where they have spray nozzles, deionized water, etc. Use only the gentle spray and bring your own car wash shampoo and Zaino. These places usually offer a shaded area to dry and wax, I mean "zaino" your car.

There is one of these places only a few blocks from my place. I never noticed at first but when I used to water to fill up my bucket the water was muddy brown. There are quite a few car wash places locally but I really dont trust anyone else.

There's a place called Details Paradise here in Colorado, that teaches you how to clean, polish and wax your car once a month. Maybe there's something similiar in Texas? It's free, you just have to purchased your polish and wax there at a decent price.

I wouldn't trust a car wash place either. The do-it-yourself coin-operated self-serve car wash near my place (less than one mile) offers "softened" water to minimize hard water spots. You may have to look around a bit more.
