The only two fatal accidents for the 777 are Asiana 214 and Malaysia 370, which don't appear to be the fault of the aircraft. Admittedly, the final causes are pending or unknown. I would not see either incident as a reason to fear the 777.
Personally, I don't like the idea of the flight computer having greater ability to override pilot commands on Airbus aircraft, espcially when professional pilots are involved. It's like putting ABS and traction control on F1 cars. It also moves further away from basic piloting skills.
