A Sad Day At My Firm . . .

In the midst of the Holidays, Bonus Day and all of the hustle and bustle of daily life, my law firm today received tragic news: Our friend and partner was killed in a hiking accident in Hawaii. She was a wife and mother of two boys. At just 35 she had made partner at one of the best law firms in the world - a rising star indeed.

Just goes to show the fleeting nature of life and how precious every day is.

Sorry to hear B55. For some reason, this type of event seem more penetrating and more moving around the holidays. May peace and comfort be with the family.

Sorry to hear of this tragic death. I have had 2 similar experiences. My best boss ever was only 43 when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He only had 3 months. Left behind a wife and child who he left well cared for. He was very smart, very personable and a great boss who considered it his job to make it easier and better for his employees.

And at the same company, we had a secretary who was also very personable, very pretty and lots of fun. She had been a model before becoming a secretary. The boss at the time had a choice between a well qualified, highly paid older woman and a completely inexperienced, pretty young girl. He took the pretty girl. As it turned out, she made a great secretary. She died suddenly at 32 of a brain aneurysm.

Such tragic incidents result in making people like me more aware of enjoying every day that we have. And especially enjoy friends and family during the holidays.

So enjoy your holidays everyone.
