F35 Joint Strike Fighter First flight

I've been working on this Aircraft on and off for 5 years now. Today is meant to be the first flight of the conventional variant. Was initially sheduled monday morning and delays have carried on until today. heavy fog this morning held it back again. But a lunch time flight is looking positive. I'm sure it'll be on TV tonight. This will join the ranks of the F22 and EFA in 5 generations fighters.

All went well the Aircraft took off fine assisted by two F16 and did a 35 min flight fullfilling a list of tests.

Yes mate that was the award prototype aircraft during the competition phase with boeing. Stovl is generally the Term as Vtol aircraft would be pretty useless due to low weight required during takeoff. the prototypes are normal a mash of previous aircraft just to prove to the customer the general idea. basically a good analagy would be the difference between a kit car and a production car.

Very cool mate. STOVL it is (short take off vertical landing). I like how the tailpipe rotates 90 degree downward while another turbofan in the fore section of the aircraft does all the lifting. I believe US Marines are the main customers. I wouldn't be surprised if the Royal Navy (UK) get some too.

Ever heard of the company who supplies most of the pressure transducers and pressure & temperature transducers for the JSF program? That's the company that I am working for. But no need to worry you are in good hands as I was not directly involved with this program.
My department designs and manufactures transducers mainly for the automotive industry (F1, rally, testing, etc.)

The F-35 looks very much like the F-22. 'Course, I've only ever seen the F-22 in the pattern at Nellis...never up close.

F35 is just really an affordable F22 in many ways. if the forces were to stock up with F22's it would be like your local business buying all there staff ferrari's as company cars.
