Got Lucky . . . Picked Up A Wii Today

I poked my head into a local Gamestop today at around noon and asked if they had any Nintendo Wiis. The clerk said, yeah, they just came in. I was at lunch with my wife so we both bought one. The kids will have a good Christmas after all!

Kinda sad though. When I was a boy, it was all about riding your bike and playing baseball. But I do like video games with the kids. Can't deny that.

The gaming industry is a hugh business. While the Wii is reasonably priced by today's standards ($250), the PS 3 is $499-$599. Even at those prices, people were willing to stand in line for days for a chance to purchase one. I feel bad for the parents who are constantly spending to keep up. My last and only video system was the original "pong" purchased back in the mid 70s. I rather spend my money on a good computer. I've played some computer games but for the most part I choose to use my time more wisely.

played a Wii last night. so much fun. me and my friends are very competitive and the Wii just provides perfect ammo for it. was cracking fun! your kids will love it. i personally recommend the tennis or bowling on Wii sports.

I think it's also sad, I had all the video game console growing up but those were reserved for raining/snowy days. I prefer playing football, basketball, and just outdoor activities with my friends. I never liked staying in one spot, that's still true today. My brother-in-law who is 15y/o sits in front of the computer all day playing computer games. I see my kids today do this, it's the new babysitter, it's sad.
