iPod Question

I'm not really a dummy, it's probably just an RTFM problem, but I haven't got an f'ing manual, - how do I make an mp3 dvd using itunes ? - I've got just under 4gig of tunes on it now, and I would like to burn them onto a disc to play in the SLK. - At the moment, I'm not worried bout folders, playlists etc - I would just like to get something on DVD. Thanks.

Wish I could help. I'm just not an iPod guy. I prefer the variety and suspense (what's coming up next) of songs on satellite radio.

A lot of people use Nero software. I bought Easy Media Creator from Roxio and it was easy and problem free to create the DVD of all my CDs. (well all of them I wanted so far)

Never tried it with iTunes but with Nero, it's very easy... just burn a data DVD with individual .mp3 or .mp3 folders and, voilŕ....

I know its possible to use iTunes, I have tried, but I haven't managed.
I found Nero much easier to use.
I just go to burn data file, add the folders i have previously prepared in a directory in my hard drive, and burn. I have never had any problems.
The procedure is simple, the cost of DVDs is now reasonable and i update my SLK DVD every time I have something new. A very cost effective way to avoid an expensive iPOD installation.

Have fun

Thanks for your replies - it seems like you're in the same boat!! iTunes help says it's possible, but does not tell you how . I could use Nero, but I didn't want to go o all the hassle of reloading CD's to my laptop, as they are already in iTunes

I've sussed it if you select all tracks, sav them as a playlist, click on that playlist, a small 'burn' button apears on the bottom right of the screen frame. Slam in a blank DVD and hit burn - the playlist is then burnt as MP4 files - - no good in COMAND on the SLK - there is another step - 'select all' on the playlist, then right click in the selected tracks and then click 'Convert to AAC' - evidently AAC is the same as MP3 so it should work in the SLK - unfortunately each track takes about 20 - 30 secs to convert, so with 1000 tunes, it could take a while

Wolly,

alternatively you can do the following:

1) open iTunes and right click on the track you want to burn and then click on "show song file. This will locate where the iTunes tracks are in your hard drive
2) open nero and find the files you want to burn as located previously (point 1). This way you wont have to create any new directories.
3) burn them using the "burn as data file option" in nero onto a RW+ or RW- DVD.

It works for me and its quick and easy

I hope you find this helpful

ciao
