Touareg V10 TDI tows a 747

This bit of news will no doubt be a big badge of honor for the few owners there are out there of the Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI. VW is hoping the number of Touareg TDI owners will grow, and demonstrated the diesel ute's mighty pulling power recently in a press event that pitted it against the standing weight of a Boeing 747. The Touareg was "lightly modified" with the addition of 7,030 kg (15,498 lbs.) of ballast weight (!) and the fitment of the 4.56 axle from Touareg V8 model.

A friend of mine has one, he'll be overjoyed to read this.

I have to say, it has an impressive engine for sure, and is an interesting, if uninspiried feeling vehicle. I think it's a big downgrade from his Audi A8, but he actually likes it more.

Problem is like most the big bruiser SUV's, it will never be used to a fraction of it's capabilities, especially in Europe.

I also tend to unfairly malign the Toureg based on it's cousin and the lies greedy Porsche tells. Ya' know what Porsche? Now that you produce soccor mom SUVs, and are becoming a full line manufacturer, no more $20,000 exotic car premium! The Boxster S truely competes on the level of pricing with SLK and Z4, as owning a Porsche is no longer something special we're willing to shell out for.

Hell, if Ferrari can still be profitable with FIAT trying to flush itself down the toilet, how does Porsche expect people to believe it NEEDS an SUV when it has VW and Audi to fall back on? (Oh, I forgot, ignore the VW PORSCHE AUDI sign at the headquarters, Porsche is an independant company.)

Oh that felt good, stress removed.

PS: You know why Porsche will never advertise one of the first vehicles it did as a company was a four wheel drive sport utilitiy? Beacuse it was a special Jeep like thing made and paid for the Nazi SS. I think they referred to it as the 906, or 606, but can't remember.

Garage
Get yourself one of these - 2.4L engine, 2WD, far less horsepower, looks far better, and can push a 747-400 around all day !!

Ferdinand Porsche was an engineer working for Volkswagen, brand that was created on the orders of A. Hitler himself... The beetle prototype was tried by a platoon of SS soldiers during several month in the factory grounds... It never stopped Volkswagen to advertise for the beetle...

The fact that Porsche isn't much visible in the adverts is simply a marketing choice as they see themselves as upmarket (like RR)

BTW marketing is an other concept which comes from the nazi regime... thanks to Herr Goebbels... and NASA, exists thanks to W. Von Braun who was also member of the SS elite corp...

Actually, Porsche considered it because of the uproar of them building an SUV, but it was shot down as it would risk too much with thier Jewish customers.

My problem isn't as much with Porsche because of it, I finally found out why Mercedes is considered off limitis to some jewish people (It's said you can find the mercedes symbol on the burning chambers, although I thought it was Krupps who actually made those, apparently they made the flame part, Mercedes the chamber.)

My problem with Porsche is, they are cashing in just to cash in, but worse, they are being dishonest about it. They are not an independant company that is worried if they don't sell SUV's to get more cash, they will be gobbled up by another corporation. They have been part of VW AUDI for decades. They are just saying they are.

I don't fault BMW or Mercedes for jumping on the SUV bandwagon, they are full line manufacturers that make many vehicles to appeal to many different people. However, Porsche tries say they are still an exotic sports car maker like Ferrari and Lamborghini (which did the SUV bandwagon way too early) and charge according mark ups. Lambo is owned by VW-Porsche-Audi and some investors now, and god help if they get a Toureg rip off too.

I think, with all the English car lines failing, the only truely "independent" car company left is BMW. But they own other brands as well.

Anyway, when Porsche admits they are not in financial straits, and makes their prices more competitive, I'll consider one again. Until then, I'll find an old air-cooled 930 Turbo to setup for race, and paint it like Herbie.

and those Jewish people are also refusing to take Bayer medicines or other products? because it's Bayer who was the main manufacturer of Zyklon B.

BTW the cremation ovens were build by two companies, Krupps and Topf. Mercedes provided the injection systems on only a few prototypes but due to the shortages they were mainly building aero engines and tank engines (like the ones on the Me Bf 109 or Bf 111 or the Tiger tanks), trucks,...
