Oh no, speeding ticket & Kleyman 3BFM question

My wife was hot rodding, I mean driving in Richmond yesterday. She was stopped by a Virginia State police officer. He clocked her doing 61 in a 45 MPH zone. No talking her way out of it, she received a speeding ticket. The police officer asked if he could ask a personal question. She stated yes. He asked, "did your Mercedes come with that flashing third brake light?" She thought for a second, wanting to say no, but answered truthfully. "No, my husband purchased it and installed it". The officer stated, "well whatever he paid for it, it was well worth it". So there you have it. Lenny's Kleyman1 Third Brakelight Flashing Module V1.5, has a semi official (if not personal) endorsement from the Virginia State Police.

On the S, the flashing only occurs when it senses "panic braking." It doesn't flash when you brake on a normal/usual basis.

Hey everyone. I'm really sorry for the delays with the 2nd order of Kleyman 3BFM . Just been really tied up lately. Starting to feel a bit burnt out with all thats been going happening on my end.

I did not forget about any of you.
The 2nd order has not been filled yet, and everyone will be notified.

Once again, really sorry for the delays.

hah very good, and that was how Lenny marketed it also, as a safety aspect.
pity about the ticket tho.
i haven't ordered one of these simply for the erason that i am completely dunce when it come to electrics, useless and will probably end up shorting my car or blowing it up!if i wired it up it would probably talk instead of flash!

Ok my friends. I know you all have been waiting for this.

Without further delay, i confirm 3rd Brake light flasher module 100% opperational! (with a few tweeks)

There are several modes.
Mode 1: Burst Mode > Fast pulsing 3 flashes then constant on
Mode 2: Burst Mode > Fast pulsing 3 flashes then 6 sec steady on then repeat

Video clip of Mode 2 > Burst mode
http://www.easty.nildram.co.uk/nr4l/Burst_Flash.AVI

Mode 3: Flash Mode > Fast 3 flashes then constant on
Mode 4: Flash Mode > Fast 3 flashes then 6 sec steady on then repeat

Video clip of Mode 4 > Flash mode
http://www.easty.nildram.co.uk/nr4l/Standard_Flash.AVI

Modes can be switched via small dip switches on the module and easy to work with.

There are a few tweeks that i need to work out. Resistors will be needed, however the min amount of resistance i still don't have. I used the resistor i had from my side marker lights from the old car just for the test.

Also need to work out where to place the resistor(it gets hot), an easy connect method without cutting wires... and a price for all this joy.

However the first few kits i think i will just charge parts and put them together, maybe setup a donation fund

This will be the 1st "Kleyman Module" and hopeing it will be usable on any Mercedes Benz 3rd break light LED or Standard.

Installation time on R171 SLK will be about 20min-30min. (actual time...I just did mine in that time, and i had wires hanging everywhere. so a clean final version will be less) Skill level = well if you can change a light bulb, you can install this module And if you can't... i can do it for you in the NY/NJ Area

So while i am working out the kinks, Who's on the waiting list???
Please PM me if you are interested!

Thank you for the post -1- , you beat me to it.

Just an update to the above info.
All the wiring has been worked you, placement of resistor and all.

The install is very easy, and Etyu's additional install pics are a great help.
(the little rubber pieces are not included in the kit) < i've had some questions about that. Though a very nice touch, the wiring doesn't move much in there and it is very unlikely it will be kinked or cut on any sharp edges. However it is a really good idea otherwise

So, does this only work for the R171? This question may have already been asked elsewhere. If so, tar and feather me.

It's located on the trunk/boot lid. Some have called it "cyclops".

Also fits the r170. SLKman has one. (I mean this also works for the R170, with minor changes at the connectors)
