Peiking (Beijing) Duck

Last night we went to Chang Palace in the Shangri-La hotel. Yes, you guessed it ... this is their Chinese restaurant. For starters we roamed all over the page but for the main course we agreed on the Beijing Duck [though the city of Peking became Beijing many years ago because of some arcane rule of transliteration, most of the world's menus have kept the dish as Peking Duck ... I guess Peking sounds a little more like something that the Last Emperor would have eaten; while Beijing might be found on the table of The Gang of Four].

It really is a great restaurant. While you were here did you try Next 2 (buffet) or Satahip (Thai) in the Shangri-La? As we live right across the street from the Shangri-La their restaurants are practically our dining rooms.

Do try it...the owner used to have a restaurant in SOHO (Gerrard St.) before he moved. You will like it.
