I usually go for the deep dish look but I was looking for something that looked a bit more factory while a tad more aggressive........based on the great advice on the forum i went with 19s on 235 frt, 265 rear. Although I think it would look much nicer lowered, the factory height ain't half bad, so I think Ill stick with it. I think the super-sprint x-pipe is next to get a more aggressive exhaust note...

Very nice hairypet. It looks fine and I don't think the vehicle needs to be lowered.

Ever thought of clear side markers instead of the OEM orange ones?

thx. I like the clear side marker (like yours) but after reading a few recent posts about the hassles involved in changing them out, I've been hesitant. But on a silver car, the amber side markers look horrid.
etyu- where do you recommend buying the clear marker and new bulbs?

What model year is the 55? I use PIAA plasma ion light bulbs. I got the clear side markers from euroAutoLights.com. Where are you in So Cal? If you're having difficulty, we can get together on a weekend and guide you on the process.

:tu:Looks good. I like wheels that look flat. They will be a challenge to clean, but worth it. The SLK 55 sits almost an inch lower than a standard SLK and looks good as is. Check eBay for the clear front lenses and matching clear looking, amber burning bulbs. Not that difficult to install.

Thanks everyone.
Its a 2007 and I'm near the Southbay.
etyu- Greatly appreciate the offer.
I'll likely order them today.....
I'm looking at the supersprint x-pipe....not as expensive as I had originally anticipated. Any shops recommended/sponsors recommended for the supersprint purchase?
thx.

IIRC, only the 2005 and 2009 SLK 55 may have TWO torx screws instead on one rear one on the sidemarkers. Non-AMG have only one torx screw. Feel free to PM if needed.

What other mods do you have? SmartTop and modified R170 antenna?

the new shoes look great and i agree with the others... clear side marker lenses are a must as is the modded shorty antenna.

having just ordered one, i've done my homework on the carlsson/supersprint x pipe. carlsson's part number is 18350140 and their california distributor is:

Ron's Tire and Wheel
12830 Sherman Way Blvd
North Hollywood, CA 91605
818 764 1560

they will charge you $1,100.00 plus tax and shipping. i ordered mine through GMP Performance (www.gmpperformance.com). i dealt with danny who was very helpful. the cost was $990.00 plus $150.00 shipping and no sales tax. the bad news for you is that i believe that i have gotten the last one currently in the U.S.

Looks great! And I agree, stock ride height on the '55 is fine...especially with our local roads! *L*

thanks everyone.
cousjcc-there are tsw crofts (19x9.5/19x8). they come either gunmetal (like mine) or chrome.
Originally I had ordered a different wheels (fairly light) from tirerack which ended up not fitting properly on the slk55. The spokes made very light contact with the brake calipers. Funny, literally the day after I spoke to their techs to tell them about the problem, they took the wheel off their website for the slk55. I think on a non-amg car it would have fit but there wasn't enough brake clearance on the 55. Interestingly they have the same wheel listed for other amg cars (sl55, etc). I believe they would have the same problem. In addition to pointing this out to the techs, I even sent Luke from tirerack whose on MBworld an email telling him of the potential fitment problem on other amg models, but I didn't get a response.
