All I see are these damned posts in EVERY thread.

Please update your location/vehicle (model and yr) in your profile as it helps the members answer any questions you might have based on locale and model.
usercp, edit your details, location/vehicle.

Anyone else active here?

damned posts? damned posts? what exactly about them don't you like?

Are you having an issue with us telling people to update their profiles so the members can assist them better?

is it the part of the new member section that says:

New members come here first! This is where you can create a new topic to introduce yourself and tell us who you are. Please update your user profile and tell us about your car and add photos.

Maybe you should rephrase your post since I had to beg you to update?

I don't get how anyone who spends any time here could question whether there are active amg owners here - or to fail to value the job the mods do in making sure people get the best from the site.

Having the car model and geographic location in the profile saves people wasting their time giving irrelevant responses.

You probably see this for new/recent members when they chime in on a topic of their interest.

Just a few comments:

1. I agree - The Trunk Monkey ads are Hall of Fame Material - Too bad my daughter was already grown before I saw them.

2. To the OP's concerns:
- We have three generations of SLK's, the R170, 171, & 172.
- We have both base and facelift model years in the R170 & R171 generations.
- We have different engines in each generation, which if you count the AMG's & diesels can be as many as 7 power plants.
- We have US & ROW cars that are configured differently in many areas.

Thus where you live and what type of SLK you drive (year and powerplant) really is required before you get a good answer to just about any question. I know it looks insanely repetitive sometimes, but it is the way those who have founded this forum have chosen to deal with people who are new. I also believe that it is a kind hearted attempt to help those new to the forum start to research and find things for themselves, as another value of the founders is to patently refuse to flame people for asking simple questions (or for any other reason for that matter), even if there are hundreds of threads on the exact same question. It's one of the things I love about SLKWorld, and one of the main reasons I agreed to serve as a moderator.

And in that spirit you are exactly right - with the number of new members we are getting lately - it does seem sometimes like the only ones who post on here are Mods, and we all seem to say the same thing - update your profile, learn how to search, vote for the ROTM, etc.

Hopefully you'll get more acquainted with the site and learn some really great things about your wonderful '55 - I really wish I had a rocket like yours. Enjoy your summer, and find a curvy road somewhere in your beautiful country this week and drive until your face hurts from smiling so much from the joy that driving an SLK can bring you.

Best wishes, my friend

I do totally agree with others - if you have info about year/model of your vehicle that makes thing sooo much easier.
I'll give you an example:
I own a nice 2003 230 SLK R170 body. There are 2 generations of them: pre-facelift and post-facelift which Actually differ when it comes to some parts! Also, there are 200K, 230K, 320K and 32AMG and they also come with different parts and engine layout. Needless to mention that there are already R171 and R172 bodies with the same facelift updates.
See how it's difficult to look up correct part numbers for our members and provide some advice?

A little respect won't hurt. And if you're friendly we, the SLK crew, are always ready to help ;)
Btw, Welcome to the forum from Houston, TX!

P.S. you see lots of posts about mods just because when your car is fixed - you're bored... And you start modding =) Stand out of the crowd!

I'm not a moderator :) I'm kind of active, maybe some would say a pain in the *(&# I am not proficient with the search feature and are too impatient to read through pages before finding what I need.

Are we related?!? lol
