Well my order for a 55 amg in mystic blue finally went in today. Its going to be a long wait until Jan. Now all I have to do is decide if I want to goto Germany to pick her up.
Congradulations on putting the order in, I hope time flies quickly so you dont have to suffer waiting for the car arrived. I waited around 7 months until my 2006 Designo SLK55 AMG to arrive to Kuwait.
I am glad you settled for Designo Mystic Blue,Its a very nice colour and quiet rich in texture as it gives you that Royal blue hue with some sort of darkness to it depending on the weather ie Over cast shows the Blue hue more whilst at night it turns to a very dark navy blue. I cannot explain it well, you have to see it in person.
I did a search and came up with a whole thread with many pictures of SLK55's in Designo Mystic blue, here you go:
Thanks for the pics. Was a toss up between Mystic Blue and the caspian / bentonite blue. HAving seen the mystic blue on a SL55 I think I have made the right choice.
:hijacked:Hi Folks
In Australia that colour is called Jasper Blue. Why do they have diff names for diff countries? Or Mercedes Benz just have to spend money on marketing consultants.
Well we have 4 blues in the UK. The 3 standard ones (Jasper, Bentonite and Tanzinite) plus one designo (mystic). I belive that bentonite is the same a caspian blue in the states.
Mystic looks like Orian Blue which was discontinnued in the USA. The only colors we have besides the Mars Red all are mostly black or silver with a slight color "tint" to it. Caspian Blue is like Navy Blue, maybe a touch lighter.
In the US, the names of the colors are celestial in nature, or close. Mars Red, Orian Blue, Obsidian Black.
Black seats look expensive, but leave the top down in the South Florida sun and WOW! My other half regrets having black seats in our sedan with tinted windows. They'll probably be just fine up there where the sun doesn't shine as much.
I would have went for the black / blue combo. However, colored seats in the states are rare. Most cars here have all tan, grey or black seats. We don't have the exciting interiors they have in Europe, where a straight black would be less the norm.
PS: Don't forget to do the Rally while you're there. There's no way you pay for those hotel rooms, they are far in excess of what Benz charges. They must subsidize it, and the drive is incredible!
anjs actually there is another Blue in the designo line and its called Mauritus blue and the colour or hue is similar to Porsche's Cobalt blue or as like the Pepsi blue soda.
Its very nice and was advertised in the Mercedes Brochure with the two tone Blue seats with black inserts.
Agreed, even when I went to order my 55 I asked my parents (they have great taste) if it would look nice.
They said yes but imagine coming home everyday looking at a very bright colour, I assumed it would look pretty boring and dull later on as I plan to have my SLK55 for a very very long time; basically a collectible.
Mystic Blue is very nice, If I am fortunate of getting another Mercedes in the future it will definatley be in Mystic blue over Dark sand single coloured Designo leather with the Poplar wood.
Hmm, well it turns out there will ne bo desyno options on the last build run of the current model. So I can either change to a standard colour or wait until May for a new face lifted version in mystic blue.
That's really fantastic and I am really happy for you! Hard as it is to wait - the delivery will really make your day. I still get the biggest grin every time i climb into the cockpit of my SLK55 AMG, as I'm sure you will. For me, these cars are about as alluring as the newer TVR autos. Best wishes to you, and enjoy!
