Yes, the R171 OEM deflector on the R171 does make a massive difference & makes a 500 mile motorway drive, top down a pleasure while still being able to converse with Your passenger :tu:
The one time I took it out, due to the R171 going into the garage for some roof adjustment, I could then see why people drive around on a sunny 20'c day with roof up....!!
They honestly do make a difference...not a huge one but enough to make them worth the effort. I still just use the one that came with the car...but if you don't have one of those, they're quite expensive...I'd go with the clear aftermarket that was suggested....
The sun has been out lately in Ireland so I have been doing some top down driving. I have my windrestrictor wrapped up and ready for posting as it is for sale so I have been using the mesh one which I got recently. I find it restricts visibility a bit and my wife hates it. So now I have a dilemma, which one to use. These are the things that keep me awake at night:wink: I was selling the glass one due to reflections at night. I know there was some discussion on this so I would like to know did anyone solve this issue.
Even the OEM ones made a difference on my R172. I bought mine (car) as a dealer demo and it came nearly fully specced. I would not have bought the deflectors otherwise so, not trying to justify a purchase but they do work and can simply be flipped out of the way when not in use.
I purchased my Wind Restrictor about 5 months ago. Very thick and high quality compared to the eBay fodder. As to glare, mine came with a slight tilt built-in to stop the glare. Some of you may have bought one before this was incorporated at the factory. The WR people and product are absolutely top notch! You won’t regret buying one.
The enclosed instructions said to put the tilt forward. The way the screw mounts are, that was the only way it would go. The tilt is very slight but has zero glare. Works fine.
Only clean it with the included solution and towel or something similar.
