Suck it or blow it?

While enjoying the beautiful day with the top down, my new conti's (with around 800 miles on them) challenged a knights code of chivalry against a piece of metal.

Needless to say, the conti put up a good fight but lost the battle.

Changing the wheel out was a breeze.

So to my question....has anyone tried sucking the air out the spare tire with the factory airpump? For the members that have not tried to use the pump, there's an inline guage with a release valve to release air out of the spare tire. Im wondering if you hook up the pump, turn it on, will it suck the air out as it forces air out of the release valve?

I'm itching to try it, but I have a real delema. You see my wife is sleeping and has to get up early. Now I have the good vs evil on my shoulders dueling it out and the odds are against me.

This may have to wait until moring....

Enjoy,
Dave

Wouldn't you know it. Every time I have the same problem my wife has to wake up early in the morning as well.

Now you knew that you were gonna get a response like this.....huh!

Oh, sorry to hear about the the rubber breaking as well......fortunately this time it should only cost you a few hundred bucks. :tu:

I've read numerous thread about ways of getting the spare tire back into the trunk and I thought just maybe the pump will get the few remaining pounds of air to deflate the tire the rest of the way. Just maybe we wont need woolly's cardboard/wheaties box, performing back flips to get the tire into its place.

Also read the threads where the spare should only be used once.
So please use caution when attempting to reuse the spare.
Since my travels were short in distance, I will attempt the feat.

Well I went out to the garage hoping to get positive results from my experiment but with regret, using the air pump had zero effect on deflating the remaining air out of the spare. I had to fall back to previous experiences from our forum and use Wooly's cardboard/wheaties box trick and it worked like a charm.

Enjoy your day,
Dave
