West Coast Meet & Drive?!

I'm posting this after reading Eddy's (Etyu) suggestion about a Norcal AND Socal meet somewhere in the middle. Just wanted to start a post in this section to see who was interested. Against my better judgement, I'd be willing handle the plans.

Anyone interested? Any suggestions for a time or place? Frisco seems like it would be equaldistant to everyone, but personally I HATE driving there. I mean, one way streets that change direction depending on what time of day it is; t'is madness.

How about Santa Barbara Area?

I am fine with Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo for that matter.

I would like to join. I am ok with Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo. Is it possible to meet this weekend or the next?

Glad there's some interest in this. I was thinking more like, at the earliest, next month; or more likely in January sometime. Was just thinking that the people who went to the retreat in Vegas would still be a bit road weary, and this would give them some time to gear up again, as it were.

Hmm, and while Santa Barbara or SLO sound fine to me, it might be a little far for the Washingtoners? And the Redwoods really sound like a nice, scenic, ride to me. Bleh, having too many options is not always a good thing.

Are there any drives that you guys think are a must drive in that area? Well let me know what you guys think.

If you want a true West Coast meet the Redwoods would be ideal and the SLK NW Group would put it on our calendar. We love road trips and typically have our highest attendance when we hit the road... Next August we plan on attending the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Yes, this fall we are 'tripped out', after just returning from Las Vegas we have our last road trip of the year next weekend on our Autumn Colors Drive through the beautiful North Cascades Highway for two days.

Due to weather, we'd need a west coast meet to be late enough in the spring or into summer and we'd plan our journey there and book rooms in advance... HEY! On our way down or way back from Pebble Beach would be ideal!

GREAT IDEA!
Go for it!

I'll let y'all figure it out.

..... But then again, think Monterey on the weekend of November 14-15. There will be cool cars at Laguna Seca. Maybe Brian (easty) will be in town that weekend.
What's a good meeting place, route to take and how long is the drive? Where do we stay overnight?

Weekend of Nov 14th sounds good to me. Anyone vehemently opposed to this?

And unfortunately, the long weekends we have comming up also coinside with some pretty major holidays. And as much as I love seeing the disappointment in my parent's faces when I tell them I'm not comming home for Thanksgiving or Christmas... oh wait, I don't like seeing that at all :biglaugh:.

And in an overcite, I'll be also linking this to the Northwest section.

[edit: nevermind. Sulley007, in his infinite wisdom has already copied this onto the Northwest section. Thank you so much bud!:tu:]

Plan something I guess and ill see if I can make it. Don't know if ill have time for any overnight trips before the new year but if its a few-several hour trip like most of the previous meets I can probably make time to go.

Ill be out of the country for parts of December so probably nothing during December will work for me.

The No. CA group is up above Sacramento in October, but we will be south of the bay area in November...down past Hollister if anyone wants to meet up....I will be posting on the California board a couple of weeks ahead....:tu:

We meet and drive the third Saturday...

Tommy04 and Tslick, Nov 14 or Nov 21 (both Saturdays), day trip to/from Santa Barbara; what do you guys think?

Where do we meet up and what route to take? What's a good place for lunch (say ~1:30 PM to 2 PM).

Hi guys, sorry, I was doing continuing ed. for the year over the weekend. Always nice to know the board still owns ya. Anywho...

Going to work on this more as some time makes itself available throughout the day. But tentatively, Nov. 21 meet near Eddy's (Etyu) 'round 10 or 11. Hop on the 405, either take the 101 or cut through the 10 and up through PCH. We should get there by 1 or 2. Have some lunch, play on the beach somewhere, go for a drive or three and hopefully get the sunset.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we're going to get to hook up with the northwest section until August. I can't believe you guys plan that far in advance, simply amazing.

Please responde sil vous plait if you want to go or have any suggestions for alternatives. Thanks!

Ok, so after a long day of sporadically finding info. for the trip; I've realized something. That is, that I'm absolutely the worst freakin person to try to organize this.

First, I hate making decisions for other people. Second, I've never even been to Santa Barbara. Thirdly, and most importantly, please refer to number two.

So if anyone would please please take over the reigns for the organization, I'd be eternally greatful. But on the bright side, I'm more than happy to cover any of the misc. expenses like snacks, drinks, beer, ect...

Please someone step up because it looks like there is at least some interest. Tom (TSlick), I seem to recall you being retired and knowing every route to everywhere *wink, wink*.

So sorry I couldn't even organize sea-monkeys, but I really hope this goes through anyways.

**and Mantist, camping in the Redwoods would probably require a long weekend, and there's no way we're waiting for you to drive from Hong Kong! (unless you started now)**
