Someone talk to me about recaro seats?? CarID advertises them but they don't even sell them [after a very brief discussion with some online chat system today].
Does anyone have these installed in the 170? do they work with the heating element? Are they not comfortable?
Recaro seats , won't work with heated elements as far as I know ! They are normally competetion type seats that support you very well , but aren't the most comfortable , although those black and yellow ones look great !
I have finally found an online distributer of these seats. They DO have the heating element in them [if I want it] and we're going back and forth regarding different specs. They sure as he double hockey sticks are not cheap.
But for fun, you guys should REALLY look at the seat options.. you'll just about flip your lids.
Glad to hear they're incorporating heated elements nowadys ! Recaro have never been cheap !
Have you thought of installing the Crossfire seats , which are similar to the AMG , you could probably get a pair and recover them however you like for less than the Racaros ??
Yes I have but thank you for posting the idea. I am so conflicted about the seat issue.
1. my seats are in fine condition-it's just that the beige needs to go
2. the 2013 slk design mocha is what really did it for me.. that rich brown color
3. yes the colorbond is an easy solution, I just need to get these seats removed already and start the process
4. if I were to put new seats in part of the problem is I would be giving up the power seat function with the sport seats [now I ask... isn't that dumb? it's a fully functioning feature.
There will always be something to do .. its only the first year. Can you imagine what kind of mods will be available in the next 5 years for our cars? lol.
Recaro seats are good, but are really expensive, i used bride and sparco seats (which are cheaper) before in my Japanese car. I didn't use the seats with the reclining function but I used the bucket seats which does not recline. One major advantage is that these seats are lightweight. If you want to increase your horsepower, it's one way to go. Another advantage is that when you're doing circuit racing, it helps you stay on your seat during high speed cornering or when you are drifting especially if you use it the seats with a 4 point harness or 6 point harness. If you will get the seats find one which include the railings. Or ask them if the seats you will buy will fit the slk.
Here is a picture of my dad's bucket seats with reclining function in his 1979 toyota 4x4 which we customized using a used recaro skeleton. Instead of the usual cloth material, We reupholstered the skeleton with leather, only cost us around 350 dollars for 2 seats.
Yup, my suggestion would be to buy a used one then design it and have it reupholstered. The cost of buying a new one is harsh lol. When I bought the bride seats for my car it was one of the things I felt sorry about when I sold my car. The seats were hard to sell on its own. I paid around 2500 dollars retail for it not including shipping. I guess in your country it will be cheaper?
I would do your research regarding the look of the seats inside the car as they can look odd if they sit high in the car. There was a post here about a r171 with r172 seats and honestly they just look too big for the car. I like Recaro seats and yes they are available in different options ranging from luxury sport to bone jarring minimal support to save on weight. I would definitely go with your original thoughts of color bond and then move on from there if your not completely satisfied. I think you know what is best for Bella though as you have already done a spectacular job with her!
If I would have kept Lawnmower, I was thinking about new seats. I spent a lot of time looking. The Recaro's were nice, but they are very expensive. But nice!
