Thank you for accepting me as a member! I just bought a used 2001 MB SLK320 Convertible Roadster that replaced my even older 2000 Audi A4 Quattro Sedan. I'm loving how fun the SLK320 is to drive! I do have 2 small (more annoying than anything else) problems. The used car dealer only gave me one broken and duct taped folding key fob. So, I'm just wanting to replace the shell of the fob for a new one and transfer the inside and the key into it. But there are so many types out there. Even the car dealership (who mailed me a replacement) ordered the wrong kind. I'm not wanting to spend an arm and a leg just to get a nicer looking key fob that I can actually attach to my keyring. Just any compatible key fob that is in one piece and working correctly. No duct tape. And the second issue is the Factory installed stereo is locked and I was not given a code to unlock it. Dealership just told me the radio doesn't work. So, I know I need the serial number off the side or back of the radio and I need 2 metal hook looking tools with rings on the end, to pull the radio out of the dash. But Amazon has many tools that say are for 2001 SLK320's. Problem is, they all have different hook types from each other. I've never experienced such a hard time with car accessories or parts.
Do you have any advice for a new MB owner for replacement key fobs and tools to pull the stereo out to get the serial number for the radio code?
