My name is John but my friends call me Whitey and my Twitch Following call me Sir Whitey Boy. I just Purchased a 1999 SLK 230 after YEARS of Dreaming about it and am Estatic.
Lets get to a little bit of History since i was 15 (just thinking about driving here in the US) i have been infatuated with this car, but it just wasn't in the cards so i drove around a little Pontiac Grand am for a few years until i Bought my 1st BENZ a 2000 S500 and i fell in love (the phrase id rather PUSH a Benz then Drive anything Else comes to mind) so Drove that and did Quiet a lot of work including doing the Strut swap for Springs over the airbags. Then 4 years with her then i moved up to a 2008 ML63 AMG and she is a Beast. Shes fast but can still do all the Family stuff i need to a really all around Vehicle. but after Rebuilding the whole top end of the 6.3 L MONSTER due to a Blown intake valve Spring and spending way more money than i want to admit on Parts and mods She is done. (for now) so Ive been craving a Project car and have still Been in loved with the R170 so i started to look. after giving up because i could not find a good candidate in my price range KATRINA found me. went and looked at her and it was meant to be. Now mind you she needs A LOT of work but shes a Project car that Runs and Drives so what else could i ask for.
So far i have re done the whole front suspension due to a Cracked Lower Control arm. Replaced both Belts, flushed coolant, Replaced Level sensor, Thermostat, temp sensor, all coolant hoses, and out air temp sensor. Also have replaced the Alternator due to bad bearing along with the tensoiner pullys (both sides). Still on the Immediate list to get done before Summer is over so i can take it on a nice long cruse to the Beach with the top down.
That list is New Brakes (rotors and Pads all around), Fix the Gas Smell see Most recent Post in General R170),
Fix / Replace the PSE (if anyone can source the Plugs the wires go into that plug into the PSE let me know as the wires on the chassis still has the Male part of the Plug from the OLD PSE stuck the Female Plugs and trying to Pin that whole thisng out is gonna be a nightmare.,
Get the Top Working (dreaded flashing Light) also needs to get the Rear windows working
and the Long list is for the Big plans i have come winter time as shes getting parked in the Garage and getting Ripped apart to be brought back as the Benz she deserves to be
(dont worry no motor swaps for at least 3 or 4 years)
