Nice pictures - Very shiny....!!

The transmission oil should be changed even 5 years, on a low milage SLK I believe... ?
If it has a MB Service History, You can request what has been done, with the aid of the Vin number.

I lucked out - It has the Williams Ceramic coat on it ! I'm going to book it into an Indie in Bristol to get the work done soon as I get back from hols...

I looked through the history and it's got every invoice from new (all from MB), receipts for the CF bits from Germany - even the old tax disks !

No, but there's a few on ebay - pricey aren't they, for what they are

when i first got my OEM MB Plexiglass Draught Stop
back in 2005, it was $810. So prices sub $500 are a bargain

but it looks so darn great, no?

The R171 OEM Wind deflector is a good design with the clever vents at the bottom and a real must for comfortable cruising above 50mph....
(As a side note, having tried the R172 Air Guide's on a long run, they are not as good for conversation at 69.999mph.... )

But going back to @JustinC71's new SLK, the chrome roll over hoops will require a @Windeflector type design...

I'm confused now - so will the one above not fit the chrome hoops ? Just want to make sure I'm getting the correct one

you will have to wait until someone with chrome replies that has the oem plexi

all agree that designo/leather roll bars cannot use it
but see the pic in post 14 of this link and you can see designo using the oem plexi

I'm going to say no to it with chrome

compare the openings. the chrome is larger so the mesh inserts won't be secure.

Plus the shape looks different from non chrome to chrome - inside shape

The MB OEM one is not meant to fit the designo/leather roll over bars, but DaveR down in Bude had managed to "make it fit" on His R171/55, with designo/leather roll over bars ..!!

I would definitely try another members OEM one before splashing out on one....
(Can't remember what Dave in Weston SM has on His 55...?)

I was going to get an OEM deflector when I first got my car but concluded (without actually trying) that it wouldn't fit - from the same observations as Sgt. Jeff.
However, I think they ruin the look of the car, especially non OEM items, and I can't say I ever miss not having one, despite that I drive top-down 24/7-365 unless it's persisting down. The Smarttop module allows you to drive roof down, all 4 windows up, and those back quarters make a surprising improvement to buffeting. I've driven 'fast' from Bournemouth to Bexley (135 miles) roof down without worrying about the wind, so make sure you really want a piece of plastic behind you all the time before splashing out.

The OP has the same SS hoops as me, and as you suspect, their profile and dimensions are not identical to the OE plastic ones.

Brill thanks ! This place is a great source of info.
