Question Are you new and wondering what to do?

Thank you for joining us.
The following is a basic outline of how to make the best of our forum
whilst you find your feet with a few hints and tips for those unfamiliar with forums.

For the full and official version see :- https://www.slkworld.com/faq.php
For a step by step guide see:- https://www.slkworld.com/forum-opera...-post-2-a.html

If you are not familiar with forums, or struggle with this version see our 'How To' threads https://www.slkworld.com/forum-opera...w-threads.html

First post an introduction. It is like starting a conversation by saying 'Hello'.
Wondering what to say?
Look at other members introductions. Some are detailed, others are short.

Next, update your vehicle/location details.
For the USA SLK (Model eg 2008 SLK 280) Year/State
For the UK SLK (Model eg 2008 SLK 280) Year/County
We're not looking for an address
Follow exactly to update: ‘Usercp’ at the top of page, then ‘edit your details’ on the left side, ‘additional information’ near the bottom, edit your ‘location’ and ‘vehicle’. Info in your garage does not update your profile.
The reason that we ask you to update vehicle/location details is to save repeating the same
information every time that you ask a question.
Also, this site is truly worldwide. That can matter when you ask for help and information.
Are you looking for a bonnet, or a hood, a boot, or a trunk? Makes a difference.
Driving on the left, or the right?

Vehicle details are for your SLK/C. Other vehicles should go into 'Other Toys'.
This is because members look at this info when trying to help.

British? Please state the year (e.g. 2007) and NOT the plate number (e.g. 57).
We are worldwide & the person that comes to your aid may not understand our plate numbers.

The R170/R171/R172 models have separate sections.

In each you will be able to find Do it Yourself ( DiY )) topics.
These can be about improvements and ways to fix problems.
I know first hand that professional garages refer to some of our members threads.
They are that good.
The models explained:
https://www.slkworld.com/general-dis...r171-r172.html

Need help?
Try search first. SLKWorld.com has a search box at the top right.
Our cars have been around for some time and most questions/problems have been seen before.

Always start your search with' SLKWorld.com' to get forum specific answers.
Adding model type may narrow the search.
Varying how you phrase the question will bring different results.
Remember, we are worldwide? So Tire/Tyre, Bonnet/Hood etc may help.

Example:
Roof problems?
'SLKWorld.com R170 roof problem' yields
Mercedes Benz SLK Forum - Search Results for SLKWorld.com R170 roof problem

But
'SLKWorld.com roof problem' (R170taken out) yields
Mercedes Benz SLK Forum - Search Results for SLKWorld.com roof problem' yields

Notice the difference?
(Note:- if you do have roof problems, try these links first:-)
R170
https://www.slkworld.com/slk-r170-cl...leapyfish.html

R171
https://www.slkworld.com/slk-r171-cl...ting-tree.html

The General area of the 170/171/172 is where you should post most questions for help.
Our Moderators can move posts if you make a mistake, so don't panic if you get it wrong.
Be patient. The person who has the best answer may not be online daily.

What next?
Well, if you fancy meeting fellow SLKers you could try your regional threads:

A reminder for new members.

If you are unfamiliar with forums try the 'How To' help section:
https://www.slkworld.com/forum-opera...-new-post.html

Don't leave it until you have a request for solving issues.
