I'm Craig, it's been 2 years since my last confession and I haven't driven my SLK in 4 hours (I guess this means I have to give up my chip now).

I have a lot of cars in my posse, the SLK is my fun car. She's a 2007 SLK280 with only 32,000 miles on her, total garage queen and covered in the winter and she's a delicate special flower that doesn't go out when the weather is not sunny and dry.

I've kept my SLK pretty stock up until now - with the exception of buying the bluetooth module for my iPhone that replaced the CD changer - but the tide is turning and I'm ready to start doing stuff to the car since I just did my first Crankshaft Position Sensor change on it and that signified my leap into "no, the dealer doesn't need to do stuff on my 8 year old car anymore".

This is one of those case I doubt I'll part with easily - if ever. I went to the dealer to get an E series and, despite it being the winter, I saw this beauty on the showroom floor and said "change of plans, warm THAT one up for me" and it's been love ever since. I love the lines of the SLK.

I'm distracted by shiny objects....oh wait, what was that.....

Hi Craig, and welcome to SLKWorld.com from the UK Midlands - Thanks for joining us! :)

Some great R171 info, including Owner’s/Maintenance/COMAND manuals, etc.:

Don’t forget to lube those seals:

Download your car’s brochure:

Mods you should think about doing to your SLK:

Some tips to make your visit here more enjoyable:
  • Post your VIN (or VIN of a car you're looking at) in the Vehicle Datacard Request section to get a free datacard (options on the car).
FREE!! How to get a free data card!
  • If you haven’t, please use the 'search' feature at the top right of the page for your questions as they have probably been asked before. Remember, ‘Search’ is your friend.
  • If you wish to become PM (Private Message) capable, you need 15 posts. To get those 15 posts quickly, just go to the ‘New members introduce yourself here’ section and welcome enough new members to obtain your needed posts to PM.
  • Want to post a picture? Start a new thread or make a post, click ‘edit’, click on the ‘paper clip’ or ‘advanced’ and/or ‘manage attachments’ then ‘choose file’ then ‘upload’ and ‘submit’! If iPhone pics, you need to rename any additional pics as iPhone names its pics all the same, image.jpg.
  • Want to 'like' or 'thank' someone’s comments? Use the ‘like’ button to the right or the ‘Thanks’ button, bottom right of any individual’s post that you like. This saves you having to comment.
  • New members should be aware that the 'New Posts' link in the info bar towards the top of the screen is a great way to see all of the posts you have missed since you were on the forum last. Remember to click 'mark forums read' under ‘quick links’ when you leave.
  • Also vote or enter our Ride of the Month competition: ROTM Submissions & Voting - Mercedes Benz SLK Forum

Thank you
Dave

Thanks Craige! I've been enjoying reading your posts and love that mod you do with the windscreens! Do you do those on my model as well? I would love to ditch that ugly snap on nylon thing that it came with and get those bad mama-jammas!
